Postby ThisizaJackMove on Thu Jul 31, 2003 3:34 am

I think its Kobe...He seems to be either bald of really close shaved head and he seems to have an armband...But with the allegations I'm not sure Kobe would be a smart move.

Probably Vince (WHY?!?)

Maybe it is Francis. He sported a baldie and he wears armbands

Most likely though its Vince as I said and as many people said.

It can't be Kobe, as he's under contract with another game developer (whoever makes the Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside series).

Kobe Bryant will be a cover boy!!!!!!!
I heard on fox news that he has a new deal in video game industry. So...my guess is EA.

That's it, Left Field. They'd have exclusive rights to Kobe's image for use on the cover of their games.

I think its between vince and starbury............... a long shots could be gp or jefferson . However it cant be garnett, jamison, kobe, richardson and bibby can't be on the cover because.................

1... the person is clearly someone with point guard handles as shown by
the pic. (thereby eliminating garnett, jamison and richardson and
jefferson)

2.... the head shape (long triangular shaped head top ), thereby
eliminating kobe and bibby.

3.... leaving it realistically to vince starbury and gp. Starbury had tthe
best year out of the group........ so my guess is starbury.

Thats the logic behind my choice.

What's your's ???????? :?

so, Kobe was also wearing adidas last year and nike this year? Why stay with a second rate game when he could be the cover of the number 1 selling basketball game in the world?

Just a thought, but if he is the coverboy--I will be handing out some I told ya so's!

Marbury, what has he done? RJ, I can see that but he's not a full pledge all star yet..

I don't know for sure, but as kobes_4real said, another Courtside game has been released within the last year. The possibility remains that Kobe has signed with EA, but that blacked out preview doesn't really look like Kobe.

Must every discussion involving Kobe go that way?

What had Steve Francis done (apart from being co-rookie of the year) when he was on the cover of NBA Live 2002? KG's never been out of the second round and he was on the cover of NBA Live 2001. Antoine Walker was on the cover of NBA Live 99 before the Celtics made it back to the playoffs. EA is mainly looking at name recognition and popularity, not personal accomplishments.

Chances are it isn't Kobe, because it's most likely he's still under contract with Left Field, hence he cannot appear on the cover of anyone else's game.

I wonder why you guys haven't thrown this guy around...

It is quite obvious to me. It ain't Vince, Jefferson, Marbury or Kobe, no way...

Take a look at jason kidds tag with the Kenyon Martin pic and compare it to the cover! The armband fits like a glove and he was New Jerseys right hand man to Jason last season. He is propably not signed to any cpu game yet and even the head shape fits.

Just compare the cover pic with the jason kidd's tag pic of Kenyon and say what you want, but I say it's Grand Kenyon.

It's a logical choice too... He's improved his game over the years and he's a budding all-star in the works and can do some serious damage next season with Alonzo taking some pressure off in the low blocks.

Kenyon Martin, Metsis has spoken...

Food for thought. Vince Carter is more marketable though. Anyone who can miss all but 9 games in the first half of the season and still be voted to the All-Star team by fans has to be pretty popular.

yea, vince is great, even though he had a rough time these couple of seasons, his fans still love him

p.s. I voted for vince for the allstar game once a day, just because he is a fun guy to watch him playing :)

Personally, I think it's Vince Carter.

All this cover talk has gotten me in the mood for flicking back through history. Let's have a look at who's been on the cover of NBA live, from 95 to 2003.

Live 95 - 93-94 NBA Finals (Robert Horry trying to swat John Starks)
Live 96 - Shaquille O'Neal (dunking the ball)
Live 97 - Mitch Richmond
Live 98 - Tim Hardaway (going for the lay-up)
Live 99 - Antoine Walker
Live 2000 - Tim Duncan
Live 2001 - Kevin Garnett
Live 2002 - Steve Francis
Live 2003 - Jason Kidd
Live 2004 - ????

And if you're asking how I know all this, NO, I did NOT search the net (I have better things to do). I just did this through memory.
