We have spoke about the T Meter Speed issues before... There is a MASSIVE jump from All-Star to Superstar levels... Hitting anything on Superstar with a FT rating under 85 is virtually impossible;) For some people anyway

They need to do that for some of the more famous legends. As dumb as it looks, Rick Barry should be shooting free throws underhanded. (Or maybe not, it looks really stupid.) I read Hal Greer always jumped when he shot FTs, and that wouldn't look bad.

For current players, Shaq should shoot one handed, and Anthony Mason should shoot super ugly about 5 seconds after you're done with the T-Meter.

Unique free throw shooting styles would be a nice touch, the same as a few different jumpshot styles. However, different shooting styles should be an attribute of their own, not based on ratings. After all, Shaq isn't the only poor free throw shooter in the NBA, but not every player who is Shaq-like from the line shoots the same way he does.

They should also have a slider to adjust the speed of the T-Meter. Maybe it's my computer, but I can't hit anything on superstar difficulty. At the same time, other people can hit every FT.

I've found free throws much easier after turning down my detail levels. I just don't have the PC to run Live 2003 at maximum detail (and thus won't have the specs to run Live 2004 at maximum detail either), and lousy framerates make shooting free throws at higher difficulty levels virtually impossible.

An appropriate slider, or perhaps the ability to practice free throws might allow you to compensate for slower PCs and slower reflexes.

I personally think Live's FT system is too easy. if u have a decent pc u'll find it easy to make 90% of ur free throws with Shaq on superstar. I think a new FT system should be put in place. I like 2k3 ft system, but i don't know if that could be implemented if someone is using a keyboard. I also think they should put a shot clock on the time ur allowed to shoot FT. If its in the game, its in the game.

I think it's time for the damn T meter to go...this is going to be the 10th NBA Live game, and we're still using the same system.....sure, if it ain't broke don't fix it, but the T meter is broke...

The T-meter is fine...

Most games have too few free throws, but things in Live 2004 might fix these problems as you can try to draw a contact foul when shooting, and that is a good thing. The thing is that the FT's are almost impossible to hit with super-star. In a good game I get 50% fts in... But usually the ft% is the lowest % I have shot all game... And that is just wrong. The fts should be easiest shots. There should be more variation between shooters. It should be next to impossible with guys from 50-65... Most of the time with guys from 65-80 and with guys over 80 you should be able to hit "all" of them with a careless miss here or there. With the good shooters it should be extremely easy cause they rarely miss in real games. It is just ridicoulus that I have a guard with ft rating of 80 and I hit 55% of his fts... That is just unrealistic. It should be atleast at 75%!!! And a player like Shaq would hit the 55%...

In Live 2003 the best AI tactic would be to just foul the player's team in each and every attack to make them go to the line and loose tons of points in fts... And that is dumb. I just shot with 6 min quarters 7/34 free throws. Won the game with 5 points when I should have lost it while looking at the ft percentage, but the 78% fg shooting compensates that quite easily.

Free Throws need a lot of work... I hate shooting them in Live 2003. One option that would be cool and what I'd use in Live 2003 would be that you could make the AI shoot the ft's for you. So even you could get more realistic ft scores.

I really like that idea. I don't like shooting FTs, and if the AI shot them for me, it would save me the trouble. I can hit free throws if I take some time on each one, but I feel like Shaq every time.

I can make them when I play on all-star (which is all I ever play on, superstar has too much bs) but I get all nervous when shooting them for some reason and end up messing them up.

Free throws should be the easiest shots in the game, especially for players with a good FT rating. The T-Meter speed on Superstar in Live 2003 was too fast compared to previous Live, at least in my opinion. Dunks in traffic and long range jumpers should be the difficult shots, not free throws.

Yeah, those in traffic dunks are pretty much a sure shot. You get blocked like one time in a hundred and miss one time in two hundred attempts.

FT should be easiest shot for a good shooter... And it is just unreal in Live 2003. It needs tons of work.

I usually shoot 20-30% in a game 'cause I don't want to concentrate on them.

It's a lot easier to just brick it and switch player to beneath the hoop and get the board and score two points. So those few times I play on superstar I try to make the first and try to completley brick the second.

And one other thing I've noticed about free throws... When you miss the last freethrow and the rebound bounces off, well it usually ends up on the "left" side of the hoop and very rarely to the "right" side. And it never bounces off clear of the hoop.

Just another thing... Yeah, and I too try to get the rebounds off the free throws cause that's way too easy compared to making the ft. I don't see why the free throws have been made so difficult to make.

I think NBA Live 2000 was the best game for free throws. The early Lives were also pretty good with free throw shooting too.

True Andrew... With Shaq it was extremely hard to hit a FT while with Mark Price and Reggie Miller it was hard to miss. And this is how it should be.

But on the subject of getting a rebound off a missed free throw, NBA Live 2003 is probably the best Live for that. :wink:

Rebounding in Live 2003 is actually something I don't really have any complaints about.

I have complaints. It's way to easy to get an offensive rebound in the game. If you'll my "My good game" thread I got 20 offensive rebounds out of 40 total against one of the best teams in the league on superstar. That should definitly be polished up since AJ Guyton and Derek Fisher won't be pulling down rebounds over Vlade and Webber.

*a minor complaint*I know how horribly some people shoot fts so instead of the ball rattling around the rim we need an air ball. If you are shooting w/ the t-meter and one of the balls go all of the way down you should air ball or if one of the balls go all the way to the right or left. Also if you get the ball in the t-meter to go all the way up you should bank it in.

About rebounding... The rebounding is good and the animations are far better then before, but one small thing. There is no in-air contact (or very little of it) and the fact that the players don't always jump for them.

It is kind of funny in Live 2003 where they did tons of new animations for rebounding and then made the AI to not jump all the time for the rebound. This is the reason why there are so many player offensive rebounds and this needs to be worked out for the system to work.

And we need to be able to box out the offensive players too to make the rebounds fall into defenders hands more often. It is too easy to go around a player now. (For those flamer comments, a disclaimer: I don't know if you could box out with the free style controls, but since the free style doesn't work with the keyboard it really doesn't exist [another thing that should be fixed])

I probably should have said major complaints about rebounding.

For me, defensive rebounds always outnumber offensive rebounds (as it should be), though the number of offensive boards could stand to be lower. It's not perfect, but it's an improvement over the rebounding in Live 2001/2002.

Live 2001 had the right field goal percentages, but that resulted in too high rebounding numbers... There were way too many rebounds while in Live 2003 there basically is no rebounding. It ain't too wierd in 2003 to end up with less then 20 rebounds that game and shoot better then 75% and that is just unrealistic.

I think if they used the Live 2001 shooting model and combine it with Live 2003 speed it would give out quite a realistic results with about 8 minute quarters.

Rebounding is done well, but it is underhanded by the easy shooting in Live 2003.

I agree, the numbers don't quite match up, but the rebounding in Live 2003 is definitely an improvement over Live 2001/2002, when offensive rebounds outnumbered defensive rebounds, and defensive rebounds seemed pre-determined.

I'm hoping that improved gameplay and sliders will lead to realistic results in 12 minute quarters. :wink:
