Firstly, I have to thank you all for your patience and your dedication to the game, I'm fully aware I'm really late with that damn roster patch. By the way, RipHam23232, you made a really constructive post, what you said was true, simply. The roster is too late and it is just my fault, I don't have any excuses.
Now let me explain:
When Andrew left the 2004 roster management for Live 2005, I offered him to take on his patch, he accepted, mainly because he knew I was able to (as I was already updating Live 2000 rosters, and because I provided some info), and a bit because there wasn't really someone else to replace him.
Quickly, I realized that updating 2004 was a real pain in the butt compared to Live 2000. The User Interface is plain awful, the ratings order must have been decided by a 4 year old dyslexic kid, and the lack of generic cyberfaces is not motivating at all when it's about creating players. But still, I continued the roster update, slowly, but surely.
Last year, a guy called Jim Raynor was constantly providing useful comments on the roster. I was really pleased because for the first time someone provided me real help on this damn roster. Indeed, he seemed so good and so implied in this update that I offered him my "position". He said OK, but a month later sent me a quick PM saying his computer was destroyed and that he might be away for some time. He never came back.
Now let me tell you the truth: I'm not as much motivated in this roster as I was before (in case if you didn't notice). There is also the fact that I don't have all the spare time I would like to. It doesn't mean I work 20h a day, it means I have a work and some housework too (mama's no longer here to cook and clean my clothes). And believe me you REALLY have less spare time than when you are student. Of course I can sit in front of my computer for leisure purposes almost everyday, but that means checking NBA sites for the latest updates, browsing the web, updating Live 2000 (not that much recently), or playing videogames (NBA Live, Championship Manager and Wolfenstein ET).
Recently, I had too many things to do the last 2 weeks to update NBA Live. Things are back to normal now, but yet I didn't launch NBA Live again.
Now, facts:
- The console UI really spoils the pleasure of updating the game, while I still have fun with Live 2000, even 6 years after
- I'm still updating the roster, I will release one. Now don't say "rookies are not a problem cause someone created their cyberfaces", cause a cyberface doesn't provide ratings and meta info
- I would have liked to get some help, I requested, and all I got was "check nba.com; it has teh latest scorebords and transactions". I didn't ask anyone to make my work at my place, but ratings suggestions for 3 or 4 players may have been appreciated
- I can't give any release date... Still too many players to be created
- I don't wanna be the 2004 "official" roster maker at all price. If someone skilled, with time and motivation appears, I will offer him my place like I did before with Jim Raynor
Lasts but not least, I have to admit that your post gave me a good kick in the butt. I'll try to invest more on that damn roster as soon as ... now (check first post)
