Joal, take your time with your patches. Instead of doing like 5 patches in 5 days, work on any one patch until you think it's good enough to be released. Quality, not quantity, is what matters.
Also, certain players are a bit harder to patch than others in Live 2004 so I suggest you start with someone you find relatively easier to patch, like Mo-Pete maybe... EA got the headshape right so all you have to do is work on the bhed. Again, take your time with the blending and alligning. Once you get the hang of those, move on to headshape editing and what not.
As for Photoshop tips... you'll find the clone stamp, burn and dodge tools very useful when making a cyberface. The clone stamp works best with opacity set to 80-90% and flow between 30-40%. Feel free to experiment with it though. Another thing I can tell you is, make the most use of the picture you use. By that I mean, don't go around modifying it too much or you'll end up losing the likeness of the player.
And don't compare your patches to those of guys like Tony and Alex. Their patches weren't the way they are now from day 1. Practice makes perfect
