yeah that's right...the bench does factor in, though

Here are some stats of a game I just played, Spurs vs Indiana...I was the spurs

Code: Select all
Entire Game         Indiana          San Antonio

Points              71               87
Bench Scoring       6                20
Field Goals         28/68            35/68
Field Goal %        .412             .515
3 Point FG          10/24            9/16
3 Point %           .417             .562
Free Throws         5/5              8/12
Free Throw %        1.000            .667
Rebounds            23               42
Off. Rebounds       1                12
Def. Rebounds       22               30
Blocks              5                7
Steals              2                3
Assists             11               29
Turnovers           6                7
Fouls               14               5

I saw two things that caught my eye. First was a foul called in the post, but the player still went up and blocked the shot after the whistle...I hadn't seen that before, it was very cool.

Second was scott pollard fronting td, and me throwing a lob only for him to sky one handed and knock it out of bounds

This game was a defensive struggle for the first 3 quarters...I was actually LOSING in the 3rd quarter, but in the 4th I just turned it on.

All my 3's were WIDE open...having big guys that can post up on your team will do that. I put the ball in the post almost every possession. Thus my high 3 point percentage.

This was played in superstar, 8 minute quarters. Some of you may think the score is a bit low, but I think it's very realisitc. These are two of the league's best defensive teams

san antonio averages 90 points per game at home...I scored 87

This was on pace to be a close game down the stretch, but I shut down jermaine and artest was trying to go one on one with bruce bowen in the post and within mid range and I wouldn't give him an inch....playing defense with the spurs is fun :)

Surprisingly enough...if you check the spurs stats on nba.com...their opponents average 41% shooting on their home court...which is basically what I made the pacers shoot...

I did a great job on the boards with nesterovic blocking out foster (who got their only offensive board) and pollard...Jermaine wouldn't let me get one offensive board with TD...I took advantage of rasho's size advantage and got 5 offensive boards with him alone

malik rose also came in the game and got a number of boards on the offensive end for me...I hit the boards on every shot I take...I'm relentless at that

it was a great game I was very pleased with the results

I've only done a handful of teams...but these are the rankings that came out just by me editing the players...nothing else

spurs: 84
indiana: 85
knicks: 79 (marbury bumps their rating up)
miami: 72
twolves: 85

I can't get cassell's rating up because of his dunk and jump ratings...guys like francis and davis get up to 7-8 rating points higher just cause of their dunk rating alone

Because of guys like ervin johnson and madsen who arent' very skilled but play their role...the wolves' overall rating suffers. Right now I'm stuck at 85 with the twolves...I would like them to be 86, but since I can't up cassell's rating without cheating, 85 will have to do for now

Turnovers           14               8
Fouls               12               7

Jermaine was player of the game with 22 and 10

I trailed basically the whole game, got serious in the 4th, but then I went for 3 instead of going for 2 like I usually do...and then I missed a ft...and lost...which is rare, but this was such a high quality game that I don't even care. I got down early cause I was playing sloppy...I had 5 to's in the first quarter with marbury lol

What do you think of these stats?

These stats are good as long as you don't care that it isn't a 12 min quarter game which I do prefer!

see....I won't play 12 minute quarters if I can get realistic stats with 8 minute quarters....

I mean, besides minutes played...almost everything is on point

and I looked over the rosters and even the teams that I said were done weren't really done, there are still some bench players that I have to go over (moochie on the knicks for example)

fouls is an issue as far as the total amount...That is probably due to the amount of minutes played more than anything...plus if you look at the free throws attempted, it's not bad.

The games had a good flow to them and that's really what's important. I don't think your fouls per game average is going to affect your ratings in franchise mode at all.

I'll keep tweaking and tweaking...it's a very tedious process...every single player from scratch. I'm hoping to have a playoffs final roster out...by the time the playoffs start I guess

I didn't want to make your work bad, everybody can do what he wants of course

I am working on a method for really realistic 12 min quarter games. Ben's roster is excellent, no question, but it has a weakness here and there. So I try to find a way to tweak the ratings for my preferences! :D

yeah there's definitely a lot of people that like to play 12 minute quarters

there are also lots that like to play within the 7-9 range...which I think my patch will be ideal for...with the proper slider settings.

if I do one team and a half per day I should be able to get this done in a reasonable amount of time I guess...

I am having one problem, though...ever since I installed the patch I'm having the 5 team slots show up everywhere....but they're EMPTY...in edit player, roster management, team selection screen....there are always gaps between atl and the rest of the teams

and sometimes it won't let you go all around, you get stuck in the empty slots and you have to go back all the way...it's stupid

the team.dbf's are all fine, there's not mention for those slots to be activated anywhere...

any help on this would be appreciated

oh well I fixed that problem

I have finished houston and detroit for the most part

I played detroit with the knicks...here are the results

Code: Select all
Entire Game         New York         Detroit

Points              75               84
Bench Scoring       9                10
Field Goals         31/69            30/64
Field Goal %        .449             .469
3 Point FG          6/18             7/17
3 Point %           .333             .412
Free Throws         7/11             17/18
Free Throw %        .636             .944
Rebounds            36               33
Off. Rebounds       9                3
Def. Rebounds       27               30
Blocks              4                3
Steals              4                7
Assists             21               13
Turnovers           12               9
Fouls               12               12

8 minutes/superstar

fouls are still low, but again, that's due more to the fact that i'm playing 8 minute quarters than anything. The games flow very well with fouls as is, so I'm not going to mess with it.

Just in case, sheed was in foul trouble the whole game...I still lost.

I never really lose using any other roster patch. After I have edited these teams, I have managed to lose 3 games in a row now...it's ridiculous. I actually feel outmatched at times which is a feeling you never really get with other rosters...you feel like you can beat anyone with any team.

what do you think of these numbers?

and would anybody like to test these rosters once I get around to finishing around 15 teams?

well...looking at pistons vs knicks game earlier in the season

the score was 79-73 in OVERTIME and the knicks got off 73 shots

that's 5 more than what they did in the game I posted...and that game didn't go to overtime

people underestimate the suckiness of the eastern conference

overall, though....I agree, it's not a common thing to see that few fg's attempted in a game

this patch could very easily be used for 9 minute quarters I'm guessing....ama keep testing

atlplayboy: there's too many...I've basically changed every rating for every player...for the most part

Here is my first 12 min quarter game. I was the Nets. The only thing that really bothers me is the high number of blocks and the low number of steals.

steals are tricky...to get it right you basically have to have a perfect balance of player steal ratings and sliders

sliders only won't fix things

I have both cpu and user steal ratings at 100

and interception for user at 44 and 46 for the cpu

plus I have come up with a formula for steal ratings for each player

what i have achieved is a lot of loose balls, a lot of players playing the passing lanes and trying to get lobs...

active defense...which is fun as hell to watch and play

but they cpu doesn't automatically get the ball back...there's no players stealing the ball with their backs turned to the play and them not even looking at the ball

the ball will come loose and it's up to you to get it...just like a real game

I'm very pumped about that aspect of it...

at the same time, you have to make smart passes...if not you will get picked off. With other rosters you and their slider settings you can just lob the ball over anyone and throw it anywhere and the other team will just watch you pass....that not fun nor challenging

watching the other team really try to get the ball from you is fun to play against and watch

yep....and look through the stat boxes I posted...steal numbers could actually be said to be low

which is why I'm gonna try playing 9 minute quarters to see how it goes

as I've said on my last post, it's a combinations of the sliders and player ratings...it keeps the defense aggressive, playing the passing lanes, going for lazy passes, etc...but they don't steal it every time, if they get their hands on it, most of the time they'll knock the ball loose unless you throw some really horrible pass

if you make stupid passes you pay for it....thus you're rewarded for playing smart basketball

that's how I like to play

That's right SlamHarder. I will play a game with Detroit against the Nets this afternoon and then post the stats. I played a half yesterday and realized that you are right. It's a combination of rating and slider.

i'm wondering if these stats will work for fantasy draft type games too? I know that the team sets will have to change..
