While we're on this, I too have been around since late 2000, (about the time I got the internet) and I too must say that when I first posted, it was a relief, and hello to everyone (though this is nor the time, nor place) and Andrew, this forum and whole centre is really well done. To host this many patches, to do all the stuff you do in one day, is incrediable. And, although I am not trying to steal any limelight off of Yjo (who I welcome; welcome mate, you'll enjoy the stuff here, believe me!) I would aslo like to get back on topic.

I have to agree with the Apocolypse dude and the guy before him.
NBA Live is a great series, they produce a pretty good game each year. And to them I say thankyou. But, the downside to this is that they stop at what they think is realistic to them. Do they even watch the NBA?? Do they even study their moves, plays, what happens on a night?? Or did they just pull out an old '94 Clippers game and watch that.
.Dynasty mode is great, but it again, resembles nothing to real life management. Madden is topping sales with their game, they've got a great dynasty, so is NHL and MVP Baseball's. It seems that all these three have no problems in making a realistic dynasty mode. Why NBA Live 2004. Did they hire people from Acclaim Software overnight?? They need to focus on the important things. Also, as stated by a dude before me, a NBL addon would be sweet to the game. Just Imagine, Gaze aginst Kidd on a monthly basis. Anyway, what about the actual gameplay, it seems the sliders are broken and do nothing. And there should be more actual dunks, moves that are perfromed by NBA players. Hell, get in Kidd, Shaq, Iverson, Kobe, Jermaine and get them to play a full court 5 on 5 game to study them etc. Which brings me to my next point. What about a 2 on 2 practice. Why just the one on one?? We want to practice passing for the game, rebounding with others, and lots of other stuff. Anyway, if Live 05 comes out on PC, and some of our demands/thoughts/ideas are not met, or even thought about, they'll be hearing about it personally, and by that I mean e-mail, maybe a petition as well.

Again, my 5 cents, since tax has inflated to 3 cents. Damn you Howard!

Well, I'm not for giving the series a vacation IF EA Sports fixes these bugs:

1. The unrealistic speed boost of the CPU when it comes to defense.
Tell me how does a tub of molasses like Elden Campbell manage to catch up to a fastbreaking Kobe and BLOCKS him?! Or (insert PG) manages to get in front of my fastbreaking prime MJ (speed 95) Also lets not forget the Shaq bait; which is I use Shaq to bait a double team then kick the ball out to the open shooter, which by the will of God, the double teaming helper runs like the Flash to contest him.

2. Dumb AI teammates.
In the heat of the game when the CPU madly rotates the ball, sometimes manages to kick the ball out to a shooter. Now sometimes I slip when changing players-I'm human after all. But what I can't stomach is when the CPU shooter with a Defender gets the ball then shoots immediately before i can cycle to the defender and the defender STAYS in a face-down position NOT challenging the shot.

3. Too much contact, could not adjust in time to make it fall!
I've been told again, again, and again. adjust the On-ball physical defense sliders. But does that really solve the problem? If you try whacking someone from behind in the NBA, you'll either get a)Foul or b)thrown out of the game or c)start a bench clearing brawl. Now I'm not against collisions, it happens in the NBA but, Live 2005 should make it so that if you get whacked its a foul against the whacker but if you force it, then either your charging or "too much contact"

4. Cheap tactics of the CPU
Now prohop is fun and powerful. But when you play Dynasty at Superstar levels you make want to pull out your hair because it frustratingly favors the CPU. let's use an example of what happened to me: T-mac has the ball. Shaq(me) gets in front and assumes face down. T-mac prohops onto Shaq. Shaq is pushed(slided actually) back and T-Mac does that cheap leaning shot which prevents me from jumping to block it. I'm on offense. Kobe prophops to Howard. Howard faces down. Kobe is stopped by the immovable wall that is Juwan Howard. WTF?! Let's not forget that your alley-oops are disabled during Superstar mode meaning you will flub every alley-oop even if you're using John Stockton as a passer no matter how open it is while the CPU can alley-oop at crowded areas with ease. sheesh.

5. Three or Dunk and that stupid looking layup
Nuff said, there is no midrange game in this game. That's why I'm having a hard time using the Mailman because his jumpshot shot go in even with the help of the Dynasty extras coaches which jacked his FG rating to 95 (FYI, I shoot within his range, which is near the FT line) and Malone isn't as strong as he used to be to push his defenders back. ANother issue is that stupid looking layup-jumpshot hybrid when you're close to the ball. You'll recognize it because it executes like a snap.

I think i'll resume my Lakers dynasty and see what else I can whine about

They did, not sure on the actual NBA players they used, But they had them play 5 on 5 for the motion capture which i might add probably cost 60% of the game budget. Now every time i switch the game on i just sit back and say"\/\/Hoa what great motion capture"

The cheapest CPu crap has got to be the TO BS, when they call a TO and then inbound the ball b4 the game has even started, WTF. Thats just str8 up cheating, i really dont get why.....................

To me it doesn't seem like 5v5 motion capture did anything to greatly change the nature of NBA Live 2004. Personally it seems like a complete waste of money as its not much different than previous Lives. the CPU isn't setting pics away from the ball, rebounders are often just standing there, doing nothing, I mean if the're not going to get the basket, at least make it look like their trying to fight for position.
First don't give me that bullshit that Canadians don't know what basketball is. There are plenty of Canadians that know basketball in and out, the problem seems like that the programmers don't know enough, don't care enough or are just not doing anything to address these problems.
Fix the players sliding around, fix the set animations (double teams, some dunks that displace the defender), improve the AI, fix prohop and you have improved more than 50% of the problems.

I'll have to admit, it's probably really hard to make a good basketball game that pleases everyone.

Having said that, EA is just a money grabbing company. They are THE biggest game company today. Once your money is in their pocket they don't give a damn. Their philosophy is this: "We got your money, why do we have to patch the game?..We'll just make you buy next year's version". EA KNOWS about all the bugs in the game. It all comes down to time and money. I've talked to ppl within the company working on Live and this is what they tell me: They have lists of bug fixes. Some are fixed in time, others are not. They're fully aware of all the annoying things in the game from one year to the next. They start the year with a list of things to implement, and as time goes on they cut things out piece by piece. Custom teams were suppozed to make it in this year, but it was cut due to time constraints. Each week they cut more and more off their list.
It just takes too much time to implement them. Besides, all they care about are the new "novel" features that make you go WOW and buy the game. You can't really blame them..it's a business, and since EA is so big they don't give a damn about what ppl think.

And to the original poster: the Live developers will never do what the devleopers of Far Cry do. Far Cry's team is small, and being such they care about their fan base, which is another reason why companies like id, Valve, etc make great games. EA is just too big a company.
