Yeah they sure make a change :D , but yeah, i just did an indiviual training session with Wagner and i put 70 in shooting and 10 in the rest and he improved just as much in the others as in shooting, so i guess ud have to change the feilds so that wehn only 10 or so points are put in they will hardly go up at all or stay the same, i also rekon that you shud try to make it so if you dont put any points in a feild then the player could decline in that catorgoire.

BTW did you want any help with it??

i jus finished my training file i guess its version alpha, it doesn't give progression if u set it at zero. but progression is improved over what EA's default is (like if u set shooting at 100 you will see good improvement). uhm jus post ya email if u would like to try it out. hell if it gets big i might ask andrew to post it, i know i like it fine and if u want it jus post ya email.

One way to change the dbf is to just change all the (-) values to zero.
And leave eveyrthing else the same.

This way, only the right categories would increase for each appropriate
training session.

I left the positive values the same because im doing franchise, and its
kinda cheap i think to have such great improvements for each training
session (and you can probably have a lot if play a franchise year).

So it's basically the same as before except you now don't get the drop in
ratings in other areas, which i thought was ridiculous. And improvement
is also something you still have to work at because they don't go up that fast.

And for anyone who is curious.. i simmed and checked, and any changes you make to the player in one season DOES follow over to the next. so
you can theoretically keep a player and train him to your liking through all the seasons.

What program do you use to edit these values? I opened up one file (C_tt.dbf) up with Notepad, and I got a HUGE list of numbers. A lot of negative (-) values, and it would take forever to change. Is this what you did Duke, manually change each one?

I spent a pretty good hour changing values / checking results. For anybody who's interested and wants to edit their training files to their preferences, here's what I can tell you.

There are the following (important) columns (possible values in brackets):

Attribute (0-16)
Package (0-3)
Rat_Group (0-9)
PCT_0, PCT_5, PCT_10 .... PCT_95, PCT_100

First, the attribute column. Each value, 0-16, represents a different attribute, in order of training possibility.
0-3 = Shooting attributes (FG, 3PT, FT, INSIDE SCORE) - order on the screen!
4-7 = Defensive attributes
8-11 = Offensive attributes
12-16 = Conditioning attributes

Now about the package column, from my experimentation I found that ONLY THE ROWS WITH PACKAGE=0 MATTER. Changing values in these rows affected individual training sessions, team training sessions (from dynasty development), and training camp (before each season).

The Rating group column represents the existing player rating (I think). 0 -> 0-10, 1->11-20, etc. This is so lower ratings get higher increases, higher ratings get lower increases.

Now for the PCT_0, PCT_5, etc. columns.
The values in these columns represent the points added to a certain attribute (based on row info) when the category of that attribute receives the column defined pct of training. Also, there is not a direct relation b/w the value of this column and the actual amount of points added - by that I mean if you put 50, it won't add 50...but higher values = greater increases. Sorry if that's confusing, I'll try to explain with an example.

Ok so say I plan to train 25 Shooting, 30 Defense, 10 Offense, 35 Conditioning.

The player's FG (a shooting attribute) will increase based on the value in the PCT_25 column (b/c 25 points dedicated to shooting training), row (ATTRIBUTE=0, Package = 0, Rating Level = corresponding to existing player rating)

The player's FT will increase bases on the value in the same column, row (ATTRIBUTE = 2, Package =0, Rating level...)

The player's dribbling (offense attribute) will increase based on the value in the PCT_10 column (10 points for offense training) , row (ATTRIBUTE=9, Package = 0, R.L. =...)

So, with this info (and a whole whack of time), hopefully you guys will be able to edit the training files to your preference! =)

modified c_tt.dbf crashed the game

Postby fieroavian on Sat Dec 13, 2003 9:22 am

Duke,
i changed all negative values to positive ones but the training session still degrades the player. so i filled in most PCT boxes (PCT_0 to PCT_100) with 9 and 5, and Live displayed a "CODEBASE ERROR" message, then it crashed.

would you mind sending your training DBF file to fieroavian@rogers.com? thanks in advance.
