what are the other teams besides 80s Celts/Lakers, 90s Bulls

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

what are the other teams besides 80s Celts/Lakers, 90s Bulls

Postby JBIIRockets on Sat May 17, 2003 12:23 pm

I read the fact sheet and saw that Live 2004 was going to bring out classic teams of the 80s and 90s. They mentioned the Celtics, Lakers, and Bulls.

Did anybody get word of what other classic teams will be in the game? Surely, it is not limited to just the Celtics, Lakers and Bulls?

Why wouldn't EA just announce all the classic teams that will be in the game?

I hope the Rockets of the mid 90s are in the game. What about the Pistons of the early 90s, the 76ers of the early 80s. The Jazz of the late 90s.

where can I find detailed info about the classic teams?

I don't think that info is available just yet, but I'm sure one of us will post such details as soon as they become available. :)

I'm assuming they are gonna put any popular historic team that managed to win 2 or more championships in a row. Expect 80's detriot and 90's houston rockets also.

Heh...and considering the laker's loss...they are now a historic championship team. We might see their team from 2 seasons ago.

Personally...i also hope they dont limit it to 80's and 90's. I'd love to play with the knicks team that won the championship in the early 70's (phil jackson when he used to win) ...milwaulkee with kareem and maravich...60's celtics with bill russel and those blokes.

this is one of the best ideas from EA for a while.
And about them 00' lakers, it is a historic team now.
3 championships....

And in Live 2004, imagine playin' Lakers vs Celts, Magic vs Bird!!!

This is a good idea indeed... Imagine the Lakers (Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor), the Bucks (Lew Alcindor, Oscar Robertson), the Celtics (Bird, McHale, Parish), the Nets (Coleman, Anderson, Dare, Edwards)... WOW! (Y)

WTF you laughing at me?

The Nets of the early '90s had one of the best teams of the NBA history... Yinka Dare, Derrick Coleman, Kenny Anderson, Kevin Edwards... they had only one crap player, Drazen Petrovic, (N)

I'd say he would be in the game. It's doubtful they'd include classic teams if they couldn't include all the main players.

I'll assume the Bulls team would be the 96 team that won 72 games. That team would be friggin awesome to play with.

Praised as the best European player EVER, someone has tried to get him into the hall of fame.....in my opinion he could have been a legend.

I don't think Tales was being all that serious in his post, after all, he did mention Yinka Dare as being a good player.

I think they should do what Madden did, and thats have one classic team, one all time team for each franchise. Then you can unlock additional classic teams for franchise who had a few great teams (like the celtics, bulls and lakers), that way tales (hehe  ) and any Utah/ Miami fans will be happy to play their favourite teams best lineup that never wona titile.

I hope we can use these teams in regular season. Make a winner takes all championship race

You're picking two bulls teams from the 90's and leaving out houston rockets?

Like i said in my above post...and i wasn't joking..they should feature the lakers from 2 years ago. That year they almost swept the playoffs if it wasn't for iverson. That was the best laker team in a while and i'd love to play then against 90's jordan and 80's celtics.

Also, if they are gonna make extra teams..this means that lesser players from those teams will have their names pronounced by the commentators...like rodman. This will be great...we will have more names to pick from for our created players also.

I think that's Kareem and Oscar Robertson. I'd love the classic Sixer teams (I'm partial to them) and the Houston Rockets of the mic-90s (but which one?)

they should include every championship team, and every contender
maybe even the conference finalists so we can relive the finals of each year if we want.

i actually think there should be an option to do the playoffs from each year...

Yes. I couldn't care less about the Rockets. Each of those Bulls teams won more championships then they did anyway...and people are more interested in playing with Jordan (both the dunk-fest early 90's one and the fade-fest late 90's one) then anyone else.

Assuming they have a limited number of classic teams...that would be a waste of space. The included Lakers are close enough to match up against the classic teams and that space would be much better used with a team that has no current representative...like the Alcindor/Robertson Bucks...

you may not give a flying flip about the Rockets, but there are many who do appreaciate how dominant The Dream was, and how well Drexler played. And heck, many believe the Rockets would have been the Bulls match had Jordan not quit the game.

message for MJ fans, Ewing is no Olajuwon, and the Rocket role players were some of the best clutch performers in NBA history.

And Sean Elliot is no Scottie Pippen. The Bulls beat everyone they faced in the finals, from Magic, to Clyde, to Barkley, Kemp, Stockton and Malon twice. Hakeem was great, no doubt, but I know many others think the bulls would've won in a tough series.

Man now I wann see this matchup. I hope Live puts the rockets in now :D
