Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

...hey guys...
...this is gonna be my first patch ever for nba live, but i decided to do this because mvp 2004 is a huge disappointment so ive decided to focus my attention on live 2004 for now...
...with that being said, im currently working on a patch in which im updating the shoes file in the xplrcmn.viv file and andrews most recent database file from his most recent roster set...in order to have each players' unique shoes in the game...obviously, this project will be using sneaker patches from a lot of other people (dahl, steve, jose, micro, chetto, etc), ole's shoes list, and andrew's most recent roster set...
...thats why i need these people's permission...once i get the permission, i'll begin the patch friday night, and hope to finish it by the end of next week (since i'll be on vacation from college

)...
...let me know if you guys are interested, and if i have permission...
...thanks...

Dude... just because people don't post because they don't care... sometimes they don't have time or aren't on or haven't seen it or whatever... you posted it today, wait at least overnight or whatever to see replies...
If you think the patch would help your game, and you think after it is done you will feel good about making it, then go for it. Don't make something to get other people's approval, do it for yourself and then release it for anyone who wants it. If its good then people will comment and thank you for it.
Sorry, now that I've got that off my chest, I personally like this idea. It would make the game more realistic if every player had their own shoes, and it would save me from downloading patches for every player. If you're willing to spend your vacation doing this, I think it would be worthwhile. I just have a question: will it have support for the DaNet 2x shoe patch (or even require it? i don't have it installed so I don't know exactly how it works...)

im actually planning on implementing all of the sneaks into the shoes file, and then applying danet's 2x patch...this will turn all of the shoes into 2x quality...i'll then just release a package that consists of the shoes file and the dbf file...
p.s. thanks for knocking some sense into me bro...no offense taken...

Sounds good. I just have a quesiton... does this mean that we are required to use that particular roster to have the shoes? And if Andrew releases a new roster you would have to do it over again (unless he bases it on your re-release) or is it like an addon to a roster?

Glad you didn't take it the wrong way and that I made some sense... I've been seeing lots of people (more and more) showing previews, getting comments, making patches just so people can say nice patch... it's supposed to be about improving your own game and then letting other people improve theirs, right? (I was like this at first, but I have learned...)
Anyhoo, good luck with the permissions

...it'll be based on his most recent roster...im figuring that itll be compatible with his future playoff update rosters though due to the fact that there are gonna be no additional transactions being done--just restructuring of lineups and whatnot...i'll be starting up this patch friday, so i'll keep u updated on exactly what the final plans will be...

Hey if you're looking for support I think this is a great Idea, I'm sick of those generic shoes & am also tired of downloading individual updates (Personal request to all you patchmakers-- Make one big patch with all your creations- ie an nbaive.org patch, that installs EVERYTHING you guys have on the site, i guess by type (like retros) I know I'm lazy and askin u guys to do more...)
I'm backing you 100% in this. Patch your heart out man...

Actually, you should apply the 2x patch first, then import the shoes; otherwise, the quality will be knocked down, as the shoes are released in 256 x 256, and if they're resized from 128 x 128, the quality gained is almost pointless because the clarity is poor.

Let's go for it, lots of ppls are waiting for such patches.
Though I installed many ppls' work to make my nba as accurate as possible. But I still waitin for yr work!
make sure the home and away shoes of each team is accurate
and the home or away shoes color in one team is united.

I hope this works for those who don't use the 2x patch

. Excellent idea my man, like everyone who's responded I think this is a brilliant idea!!
When can we expect to see the fruition of your work?

...trust me vincent, im a perfectionist in these regards, and i'll be using the patch, myself, so the last thing i want is a half-assed job...the sneaks will be accurate for home and away--alternate is a different story, though...i dont know how to adjust that

...
...a very small problem that im already forseeing though is that i'll have to give some players optional sneakers like shane battier (since no one has made his oakley sneaks), but im sure you guys won't mind that...i'll give him sneakers that resemble his (i.e. the nike chosen's) and he'll be all set to go...

...i have a final exam in college tommorrow and friday, which means i'll begin friday night...i'll keep you guys posted with my progress though...trust me...
...in regards to the 2x patch needed, what im actually going to do is first install the 2x patch on my game...i'll then import sneaks into the shoe file (in the xplrcmn.viv file) at a resolution of 256x256...i spoke to jowe, and he told me that's all that i needed to do...i think i'll send a pm to danet to see if u guys will need to install the 2x patch...im thinking not, though...
...unless something really bucked up happens, i should be finish with the patch by next friday AT THE LATEST...most likely sooner, though, because once i start, i have a feeling that i'll be addicted, hahahahahahahahha

...

godsoninfinite, wright down any changes you make in the roster shoe wise, because i could make a batch file so that people could update thier own rosters....Just write down the player, the new homeshoe/away shoe number and send it to me and i can turn it into an update so that people don't have to use one roster for the shoe's....
Fri Apr 23, 2004 2:59 pm
replace all the shoes with the same colour
Sat May 01, 2004 3:30 am
So how far are you? just a question
Sat May 01, 2004 5:44 am
The batch file idea sounds more logical. Keep us updated bud!! Btw, will this only work with the customart option turned on?
Thu May 06, 2004 8:11 am
when will you release it ?
Thu May 06, 2004 11:49 am
you can use my patches too good luck
