Fish23's NBA LIVE 2004 Tweaked Rosters (RELEASED)

Fri Apr 02, 2004 9:02 pm

In the quest for realism and accurate simulated stats, I've gone through every freakin team's website (and other NBA STAT sites) to revamp the ratings.

Based on actual stats, I've updated the following ratings for about 90+% of the players (The rest being those players who havent played enough minutes to deserve an update) in this edited roster:

FGs- Based on actual jump shot %, balanced with primacy. Cause let's face it, some guys get only open looks. Those who get hounded deserve more credit.

3pt- This is their current 3p% balanced with their career 3p%

Inside- Not only the big guys score well inside as stats will show.

FT- Again, a balance of current and career %.

STL, BLK, Def Aw- Also based on stats, now teams like Detroit and SA really are 2 of the best defensive teams.

Off&Def Reb.- The problem with the original ratings for rebounding is they don't seem to coincide with real stats. Now it's easier to get Offensive Boards.

Passing- Again here I noticed how some good passers were overlooked in the original ratings just because they're not point guards.

Stamina & Primacy- Now guys like Lebron, Carmelo & Wade get their minutes and their shots. Even adjusted PG primacy a little, so they don't dominate the game every freakin time (but they still do sometimes, its a nasty bug)

I'm quite happy with the results, although of course there are still some bugs that are hard to fix. I wish there was a way to really simulate realistic NBA stats and at the same time enjoy in-game play.

If anyone wants to test/try it i'll email you the players.dbf file and you can paste it onto any saved roster. I'll also include the Slider Settings I use with the rosters.

Team rosters are accurate as of April 1, 2004

are you gonna release this roster

Fri Apr 02, 2004 9:18 pm

I would like to but i'm still testing it myself in dynasty mode. The problem with dynasty mode are the "dynasty bugs". Something funky happens and stats get messed up as the years go by. As far as releasing goes, do u mean uploading it to a site? Maybe later on.

Technically it's available now for anyone who wants to try it out.

ok, just finished e-mailing y'all. hope i didn't miss anybody. btw, keep in mind that the sliders i included are adjusted to my specific style of play so yo may have to tweak further. i also do the usual adjustments like:

-selecting the team's offensive strategy for both me and cpu
-setting defensive strategy to "man to man" for both me and cpu
-setting crash boards to ON & box out to OFF for both me and cpu
-under defensive match-ups, i set each cpu player to LOW pressure and change it only through the course of the game. I only do this one for my team, i let the cpu players defend their match-ups AUTO everything. it seems they know when to double team which player and when.

let me know whatch think

as far as Ive tried the roster along with yr slider,
it's not a bad one coming out there but the compu get a lot of steals n it's way too difficult for players to drive into the lane[freestyle  ]...I also took some minutes to get used to the free throw difficulty...
cpu FG% is still to high sometimes...but I think the main deal is that the shot blocked wasn't counted as a shot missed in the game...EA's fault was that...
the roster looks well simulating games......just a little bit work on it...or maybe on the slider...it would be another great

yeah i did that intentionally to keep myself and the computer from abusing the pro hop. At least now it becomes a challenge to do the hop and after you get used to it, it still seems easy sometimes, especially for very agile players. you can always raise the freestyle slider to your liking. i just wanted to make it harder to get in the lane without getting contested which leads to more jump shots.

about the fg%, i myself find it too low for the cpu. i guess with the right defense you'll learn to keep that fg% between 35-45%. all in all it looks like your problems can be solved with a bit more slider tweaking.
