v1.06 released...

Postby Andrew on Fri Mar 19, 2004 8:48 pm

I've put the finishing touches on a new version of the current roster update for NBA Live 2004, and it is ready to download here.

New in v1.06:
- 2003/2004 Rosters, updated through March 17th, 2004
- A lot of player ratings and positions updated for better substitution patterns
- A lot of player ratings updated for better simulated and in-game performance

I've made a lot of changes to player ratings and positions in this update, thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the last version! As always, you can provide feedback on the latest version by emailing me or by posting in the Live 2004 Roster Patch Issues forum.

That's always nice to hear. :) I didn't add any nicknames/birth towns to the database this update, but I'll try to do that in v1.07 (or v1.08 if v1.07 is just a minor update ).

First thx for the update I couldnt do this myself... But i have to say some players are still overrated or the ratings not very realistic (boris diaw is still 75 for 3's!). Ill try to take a closer look and give u feedback. Nice work anyway.

Tremendous work Andrew! I noticed right of the bat several improvements, notably big men like R.Wallace rightfully have good shooting form and in this case can now command the pro-hop. Good stuff!

Listen, if I can't import the data the next best thing would be to alter the ratings myself, which I don't mind doing. Andrew, can you kindly provide information for the changes made in this update? I'm only interested in player ratings here. I hope this is not too much to ask. You can send me a PM or I can provide my email address. Let me know if this is feasible.

Once again, I commend you on a job well done! Best roster out there bar none!!

thanks for the update andrew. i would like to use this patch for my upcoming league http://www.hostultra.com/~MegaCityBL/ if thats ok with you? Also if you can maybe post that in the main site as an announcement I'd greatly appreciate it.

my question to you is this. during online play are we able to use the actually teams offensive and defensive formations? a member of my league asked if we can eliminate user from the default 4 plays

sofar ive been unable to crack this. please let me know if its possible andrew. thanks again

also i know i asked this in the general forums but i got no feedback yet. which file contains the injury icons, (the red cross and bandaid icons)? i searched threw all my files with eagraph but got no luck finding it.

Thanks. :) I think I updated Songaila's rating a little, though I might be able to increase them a little more. If I'm adding nicknames in the next update, I'll add Di to the database. (Y)

Can't find 'em all. Keep the feedback coming, thanks for the suggestion. (Y)

Thank you very much for the kind words Calvenn. :) I'd like to help you out, but unfortunately since I made a lot of updates in this version, I've lost track of everyone who was updated and which ratings were updated.

However, I have just remembered Stonecold posted a means of applying roster updates to seasons in progress without losing season data, using Microsoft Access. If you track down the post that might be an easier (and much quicker) method, though as always make sure you backup your season in case something goes wrong.

As long as you give me a shoutout somewhere for having created the rosters, absolutely! (Y) I'm flattered that you like the rosters so much. :)

I'm really not sure, I'm not familiar with online play. Sorry.

I'm sorry, I don't know offhand. They've got to be in there somewhere.

Sorry, that has to be done through face patching. I can't make cyberface updates. Well, not ones that actually look any good.

Thanks for the heads up wonging. (Y)

As I said in the other thread I'll consider it, but Mikki has already released a Rookie/Sophomore team roster patch, complete with individual jerseys and other art.

Nice work Andrew

BTW, Spurs' Hedo Turkoglu is Top 5 in 3PT% in league (currently Second with a 90-196 [.459] stats) so I hope that guy will have better 3PT raiting in 1.07 Even 70 is suitable for his skills, I think he is playing above his skills nowadays.

Love the patch - thanks again andrew!!!

A few comments...

Raja Bell: he got a little boost in this patch (FG +2, 3P +1), but i reckon he might deserve a little more, he's a big part of utah's offense and is often their highest scorer these days - maybe his FG should be up around 70 and 3P just 1 or 2 higher.

Marquis Daniels: he's really been a good contributor for the Mavs lately - scoring in double figures in many games - went damn close to getting a triple-double twice. I think his FG could definitely do with a boost - 3P maybe a little, he can shoot 3s but maybe isn't great at them - he's been doing some ball handling with the mavs too, maybe a litle boost there.

Brandon Hunter: he seems to have come down from his few good games in the NBA. Maybe he should come back down a little (I know I asked for an increase last time - but maybe he got a little too much).

Sam Cassell: he's been a BIG part of Minnesotas good season, great scoring option - i think his FG and esp 3P are a little low for such a talented player.

Once again, thanks.

I really think a lot of players are still overrated.
Just to name some Im thinking of are a lot of toronto like Lamond Murray, Alvin Williams(not a starter anymore), Moiso and maybe more so there overall rating could go down too. Cant think of players right now but there are a lot.

Btw, some Nets players are underrated like Armstrong, Rogers. Maybe they could get a little increase.

It would be nice if the teams overall rating could be near the real nba. Is that possible?

I saw Alvin Williams started the other day. But guys like Lamond Murray can definitely stand to have their ratings decreased a little. Remember though, although overall ratings are important for trades I don't want to boost or decrease ratings simply to change the overall rating. I'll only change the ratings as appropriate.

The same goes for the team rankings. I would like to get them in a better order, but I won't overrate or underrate players simply to get the teams in a better order. But I'll definitely try to find a balance.

I noticed that and laughed out loud. How did that happen? :)

BTW, I still think Steve Francis is over-rated in the game. The guy is a star and all, but his game play stats make him too much of a weapon. I don't know, maybe I've been burned by him too many times :D but I've also seen him play on TV a few times -- it's clear who the best player on that team is, and it ain't Francis.

One more comment for Andrew: I believe Mike Sweetney is on the active roster for Knicks, but he's not active in your roster (oviously this is easy for me to fix for myself). IIRC, he's higher on the (real) Knicks depth chart than Othella Harrington. Sweetney's been getting the minutes lately partly because Dikembe is hurt, but he's definitely earned that time.
