Why this name shouldn't be changed?

Say, some players are only allowed to wear nike shoes and so on..

The colour codes are different, since accessories now use the "COL" fields to determine their colour. I have a feeling 54 is the code for automatic colour headbands.

i've tried doing that but all I get is the commentary calling out the numbers not nicknames. nicknames seem to work only with created players not patched players.

Those are text nicknames only. The nickname you choose will be displayed in View Player, but will not be used by Marv and Mike.
