i don't get the pro-hop problem, don't control the guy that's being driven on (you'll get burned)--be the help guy(usually the center) then when he pro-hops --go help him out and block or distract the shot.--The cpu pro-hop has been the least of my concerns on superstar--I'm tweaking so that the cpu will actually shoot a higher fg%. i think i had too low though.

Are you guys playing man to man defence? If the pro-hop is killing you--switch to zone so you know there will be some help available. The problem might not be the game but how your playing defense.

I never man up unless it's a close game and the cpu needs a three or something to win, I always play as help "d". try it out, see if that helps.

well, i have my d set to dynamic. unlike football i don't know the correct situations for the correct d's. so i just stay with the guy who has the ball.

THe pro-hop was not the issue for me either, even when I played the ballhandler man-to-man. It's all those rediculous shots dropping in... which still happens on All-Star, but not nearly as often. And with the correct sliders, the game stays fun and competitive even on All-Star.

That no jump shot was annoying me, the cpu won't take any (and never worry to ask for a decent play with screens and fade aways).
I tried everything, from setting strategies for the computer, moving sliders, and messing with the SCOREAREA or giving more Primacy to pure shoters. My conclusion is that with Superstar level the cpu will only take forced Jumpshots ( with 2 seconds and nothing more to do), and that, playing a bad defense or not, is far far away from being realistic.

But I recovered the hope while playing AllStar and Starter mode (the easiest the more mid range shots the cpu will take). I think we should focus on getting balanced and real games on this modes with the sliders.

i put 12 min quarters (superstar) and had two comps play against each other (4games) this was the best one in realism.... indiana vs san antonio.......indiano shot 42.9% and san antonio 47.6%

score 89 - 87....i watched the game and the AI uses the clock but they take too many forced 3's and shots wow....parker took 18 3's most when clock running down and got blocked like 4 times....he made 3 san antonio shot 10 shots mid range and all other's 3's and in the paint but i accepted that since they were giving duncan the ball a lot.... indiana's shot chart waas really good it was all over the place but kenny anderson shot too much...but this was only b/c anderson isnt a good three point shooter and when the clock was running he would move in and shoot fade-aways
blocks - sa 12 ind 15

after the games i went and changed the primacy's for all the players b/c ginobili would never get shots and parker was getting to many, malik rose also wouldn't get shots, kenny anderson took about shots and oneal and harrington didnt take enough

also the comp doesnt know how to break a press they get so many t.o cause in the 4th when the comps were playing each other i went and changed their defensive setts to 1121 and 122 press and they racked up a lil too many t.o

what's the fuzz about superstar? the first thing i ever do when i slap that nba live game on (since live95) is to set the difficulty on the hardest (in this case superstar). i had problems adjusting at first because i had to remap my keys in the keyboard because of the pro-hop and dunk buttons. but after a few games i got it. my record is HW 14 HL10 AW 15 AL 8!!!

Just last night i beat the lakers by 17 with new orleans(minus jamal mashburn cause i think he's injured). i held them to 7 pts. in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd, and 4 in the 4th.

Superstar
5 minutes
I used Andrew's game sliders for superstar...

i hate it when the cpu can easily catch up in fastbreaks. and why is tmac bettes than kobe in 3 point????

I've played on superstar mode ever since i got the game for pc. In the beginning i would lose every once in a while and just about a few days ago i've gotten really good. Superstar mode is now too easy. The test i always try is to beat the dallas mavericks with a mediocre team. I chose 76ers and was able to win by 9. I have a franchise team (won away game vs dallas by 15) that is 20-5 (early losses) and with untweaked sliders. The team overall is 84. All my losses have been close. Which is loseing by 5 or less. I admit the cpu sometimes makes alot of those contested floaters in the lane, but i find shooting 3's not that tough.

Sliders
When i tried andrew's sliders the game seem to have gotten more easy because im able to make those tight passes that are able to slip thru when untweaked sliders they would usually be intercepted. The realistic sliders seem to make my job alot more easier. I also score 100+ points with the realistic sliders in 8 minute quarters, beating every team by 10 or more.

yeah, you are able to squeeze those passes in their with the interception slider dropped by 10 to 40. at first i thought that it needed to be lowered but when you pass properly and use direct passing it's not that big of an issue. for me the problem lies in the cpu shooting. they already make those hanging, poor-release teardrops on all star and superstar just makes it worse. also the hook is uncontestable. i will miss the hook but the cpu never does. it is no rare occurence to see 'zo' go 9/11 from the field on hooks and leaning lay-ups.

i found my sliders getting a bit out of hand...I was scoring way too much, from early in the season with 110 to 130 or thereabouts, basically I knew how to score...

so I fiddled with the sliders some more..

I got OWNED by the clippers 120-100...I struggled so bad, and Manu got injured, the score got a bit out of hand at 120 because in my attempts to make it reasonable, I was gambling...

with 3 mins to go it was 100-110, and I just missed a point blank layup with Hedo...grrr, they owned me from then!

are you guys kidding me? superstar is not that difficult, you just have to figure out how to make the cpu take bad shots, and make sure that you take really high percentage shots or wide open 3's, it might not be as realistic but it is a lot funner then winning every game by 50.

It's not about difficulty, at least not for me - I won 50% of my games on Superstar, and that was after playing about 5 on All-Star before that...

With good slider settings All-Star can be nearly as competitive, but it seems more real and definitely is way more fun. While the PC will still hit the occassional last-second shot or off-balance jumper, it's not nearly as often as on Superstar. The problem on Superstar is that you cannot say why you just got a basket as your D was superb... and that is frustrating, at least to me.

Superstar mode is patetic!!!!!! :? :?
I play in Superstar mode with any combinations......and.....NO RESULTS!!! :? Now, i play in All-star mode.....perfect simulation.....mid-range shots....no more 30 or 40 3pts shots.....
The dificult is great!! :D :D

PS: Sorry my terrible english!!!

I was beginning to think that I was the only one noticing this problem on superstar. The best balance of play should be on All-star with adjusted sliders.

which slider do you use? I have played about 8 games on superstar--and i had a couple of good games but i see where the cpu does some weird things--very frustraing. I'm willing to use all star sliders, but which ones are good?
