PC gamepad in Australia

Wed Nov 19, 2003 7:51 pm

I am thinking about buying a gamepad for PC.
Today I spoke to a shop that they recommend to use PS2 pad with PC connection adaptor. (USB) Can anyone recommend which gamepad I'd better get?
Logitec Rumble? or PS2 gamepad? or any others?

If you've got a PS2, it might be worth investing in the adapter. However, as far as PC gamepads go, I highly recommend the Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog/Dual Power gamepad.

That's where I bought mine. (Y) It was $75 when I got it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was less than that now.

The logitech rumble gamepad has 6 buttons...A,B,C,X,Y,Z where as the Thrustmaster only has 4 buttons, does this make much difference?

Which one did you get Andrew...

FireStorm Dual Power 3 ?
FireStorm Dual Analog 3 ?

or

FireStorm Digital 3 ?

I have the Dual Analog 3 (the Dual Power 3 has Force Feedback I believe, which is rarely used IMHO, and not supported by Live 04).

It has 12 buttons - 4 on the top, 2 shoulder buttons on each side, 2 additional shoulder buttons at the bottom of the pad (press with your middle finger), and you can press the two analog sticks down for button presses as well.

Works like a charm for me here. And it only cost me 17 Euros.

EDIT: Just to clarify - I have used a Logitech and MS SIdewinder pads before, and both only have 1 shoulder button on each side and 6 buttons on the top. I do think that the PS2-layout of the Thrustmaster is far superior though as it allows you more button combos. You can't really press more than one of the top buttons at a time, but the shoulder buttons and top buttons combined work wonders (Direct Pass, Turbo, Backdown etc. all word better this way for me).
