What do you think about this game Andrew ?

Mon Oct 20, 2003 7:31 pm

I want your opinion about the game.

Is it better than the 2003 ? much better ?
Is there still those dark sides like two handed dunks or ridiculous lay up or Unreal blocks ? or now is it more realistic ?

And how are the cut scenes ?
What happens when you win a game (What players do ?)
Do you think it could be better for a Human Vs Human ? (like 2001)
Can we control two teams in a season ? (the most important for my friend and I)

All these information I need to help me to wait for this PC game.

I'm looking forward to playing this one !

Thanks Andrew.
If anyone want to answer these questions, be my guest.

Like myself and a few other poor, desperate souls, Andrew is from Oz, which has to wait until at least the 3rd for it to be released, so I dont think he has a copy yet.

I won't have the console version until it's released here in Australia. I will be getting the PC version around the same time as North America though.

Oh ok... I live in France so I know what it's like...

I can't wait for this game.

It think it will be great but just wait and see....after the disapointment of the 2003...never be too sure...

Those who criticize the game just say that they don't know how to use the pro hoop button, or the separated shoot/ layupDunk button.
So... they just don't know how to play.

The others (live players) say this is great !

Just can wait, can you ?

Tue Oct 21, 2003 9:32 pm

I'm itching to get my hands on the game. I'm used to the longer wait though.

Thats a shocker, all the time I hear about people getting games in advance for having fan sites or having a good relationship with EA. After all these years at the NLSC you think Andrew would be one of the first to get his hands on the game. Hell Eddy seems to get games "free" from EA somehow.

I have the PS2 version. For ur first question, Of course It's much better than 2003 especially the level of gameplay.
The dunks is now more realistic than the arcade like 2003 version and u can actually change it mid-air by tapping the dunk button twice and u will throw a layup instead of a dunk . Also u can block the shot of a player dunking if ur player has a high blocking rate like Yao Ming. Blocking is also improve cause u can't easily block a player shot if the defender doesnt have a high blocking rate. U cannnot easily throw a dunk or a layup if there's a defender trying challenge ur shot. Also the pro hop button(Allen Iverson's favorite move toward the basket) is also good for the game. There's only a few cut scene i.e. is when a team is calling a timeout, theres going to be a huddle cutscene. The 2 player game is also fun but u mention 2001 , live 2001 sucks to the max. I have'nt try season yet, I only play exibition and dynasty mode. Ok, over and out :D

Thank you "Wearing no Jersey"...

That is why I want to play live now !
I hope they'll release the demo soon.

Thanks again, to all of you.

 One last question, I'll post it in the forum, but does anybody know if we have a little time to give the ball to one player on the court after a time out or a "out of bound" ? or is it like 2003, the cut scene ends and you give the ball instantly although no one is ready.......!
In the 2001 (wich was great for Human Vs Human way of playing) we had to wait about two seconds before giving the ball. (the player control shadow flashed, wich meant that you couldn't give the ball)That was smart !
Everybody was ready, at their right positions, and you could think about what you'll do before the "virtual" ref give you the ball and start counting down 5 seconds. Like in real life !

Thanks again !

How does one obtain this role of official tester?

I read this somewhere before. I think he was approached by EA because he was a big time player on the EA Online multiplayer system.

I was invited to participate in the Community Leaders program, but as I do not have a network adapter nor a suitable Internet connection for online gaming, I unfortunately had to decline. I won't be getting the PS2 version until it's released in Australia, but I will be getting the PC version around the same time as North America.

any word if it's the 4th or the 11th yet?

Tue Oct 28, 2003 11:35 am

As far as I know, the 11th is the most likely release date.

Tue Oct 28, 2003 9:05 pm

once again, EA say that we got this game before the beginning of the NBA season, and we got it on november 6(in france)!!

no demo , and the game is available in USA!

fifa2004 will be on sale soon and the demo is available!

I'm not a tester. I participate in most of the program such as NHL, Live, madden and MVP. I get those game a week before it hits the store.

I'll have to wait a few days to play it on my PC (well I hope  ).....

Is it too much like the 2003 or is it a rebirth ?

Thanks Andrew !

I'll be writing up a full review sometime this weekend, but in a nutshell, it's the best game thus far - the gameplay is simply awesome. It blows NBA Live 2003 out of the water, and is far superior to NBA Live 2000. Now we have sliders, it can be any kind of basketball game. The default simulation sliders a pretty spot on (I've made a few tweaks), the default Action sliders would probably make for some fun multiplayer games.

I'll elaborate further in my review, but I'm definitely impressed with it so far. (Y) Even though there's a couple of issues that need to be resolved, the game far exceeds my expectations.
