What do you teach and what grade level? I'm at Iowa State right now for English Ed (secondary). Just curious.

No, he doesn't "need" or "have" to visit this site, but as one of the people involved in the development of the game, he, along with the rest of the team who worked on Live 2004, should care about their product and the response that it creates. This site is the biggest NBA Live fan site on the internet, therefore someone from that team should be here giving us some sort of feedback. It's just good customer relations.
Pirate wrote:Tim probably still looks at the boards, he may even be reading this and shaking his head at endofanera, but he does not need to post. He may have info on the game, but probably not much more than we already know.
Yes, Tim probably does look at the boards, and he doesn't 'need' to post...but again, he should. He 'may' have info? He's one of the producers, right? He should have ALL the info on the game, and he knows a LOT more than we know. He knows why the dynasty is buggy and can give us legitimate reasons (EA Sports seemed to be dead set on having the fancy-pants dynasties in every game this year, and they probably just ran out of time, as Madden's, NHLs, and Fifa's were already developed more than NBA Lives and they were rushed). He can tell us why some features were left out and what not. I garuntee he knows far more than you and I about this game.
Pirate wrote:He is one man, one person in a team of over twenty that put this game out. One Man. He has no obligation to answer our questions, he does not get paid to do so. He gets paid to develop the game.
*shrug* He gets paid to develop the game, but he also gets paid, I'm assuming, to put out a quality product. NBA Live 2004 is buggy when it comes to the dynasty, and there are a great deal of problems with that. As consumers, we have no real way to get answers from EA as the people who answer our emails and phone calls are just employees who read prepared statements written by the publisists within the corporation; they have little to no knowledge of the actual workings of the game. In order to get responses that are meaningful and not frustrating to us, the consumer, we need feedback and answers to LEGITIMATE questions and concerns regarding the product that we purchased. The only people that can give those responses are people involved with the actual development of the game, not drones getting paid ten bucks an hour to answer the phone and tell people they don't know.
Pirate wrote:They get our wish list at EA they read our complaining, and in a lot of cases try to fix it. The issues with the Live series are not Tim's problems they are EA's so please let the poor man be.
Um...how is it EA's fault and not Tim's? Electronic Arts (the Sports division, also called EA SPORTS

) is a publisher. They contract out their franchises to development teams that are separate entities and those teams have deadlines set by EA along with required features that must be in the game. The wishlist is passed on from EA (I'm assuming, anyway) to the development team with certain things earmarked to be contained in the game. The buggy dynasty mode in Live 2004 is both EA and Tim's problem, but more so Tim's problem; EA won't get fired because of a shoddy product.
Pirate wrote:One Dev post a week does not show commitment.
I think the majority of the people on the board can understand that game developers are busy, especially me as my brother is one as well. However, you're wrong. What do we have now? We have nothing, no proof whatsoever that EA Sports is committed to us as fans of the NBA Live series. All we have is a great game marred by bugs that keep the franchise at the same level as its competition and not blowing it away like Madden, Fifa, and NHL do year after year after year. One post a week would show that the team actually gives a shit about its customers.
Pirate wrote:It's not like they will leak us new info on the game that has yet to be released because we are a so-called community. We don't deserve any more than the rest of the public. It's ok the game will be here in November.
They don't need to leak any information; the game's been released for the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube for a week. In one week, I've discovered an abundance of bugs and design flaws within the franchise mode. Actually, it was less than a week; I got the game Wednesday, today's Monday, and I didn't play it at all on Saturday or Sunday, which means I've only played it for what, four days? In four days, probably about 30 hours of game play, I found an absurd amount of problems. My basic instinct is that they tried to do too much, which is great, and were unable to finish it...it's a rushed product. We deserve some sort of feedback to make sure that the developers know these errors are there. If the PC version is released with the same bugs, we deserve a patch to fix the glaring problems with an otherwise great game.
Pirate wrote:And remember it's only a game.
If your money is so darn precious save it up, don't waste it on a game.
I'm not saying Live 2004 is a waste, it's the best gameplay I've ever seen in a basketball game; however, the dynasty mode, the best part of any sports game, has the same quality feel to it as such great games like "Deer Hunter" and "Paint Brawl." It's junk. I'm curious, as many others are, why the gameplay is so wonderful, and why there's all the little extras in the dynasty mode that are not implemented fully, buggy, or just plain pointless. I paid $50 for a great PS2 game, and the dynasty is horrible. I spent $35 on the PC version, as I patch, and I want to know if these issues will be fixed in the PC version or if a patch will be released.
