whatever happened to the "face in game" technology

Postby sho89mtx on Sat Oct 11, 2003 7:49 am

I haven't played a pc version of nba live in a long time because i hate playing games on a pc, but the last time i did buy nba live it was because they had a thing in there where u could take a pic of your face and import it into the player's body and it looked awesome! Why don't they do this anymore? I was praying that one day that will come to the xbox and u could download a pic from your digital camera or website, what do you guys think?
thanks,
scott

I don't think it looked awsome.. it looked pretty crap IMO... it was very hard to get anything that resembled a human face using that tool... so EA scraped it.. I do hope they bring it back.. and I think they will.. with the poularity of the Itoy on the PS2 and the ability to get photos on the XBOX too.. I wouldn't be surprised if we see face in the game come back for 2005... you can always put it on the wish list and see what happens..

The PC version will always have a face in the game because of patching, I'm not sure but wasn't Live 2000PC the only Live game to even come out with that feature.

The console games may be getting it if the consumers ask for it enough.

Both NBA Live 2000 and NBA Live 2001 had the "Face-In-The-Game" feature. As David said, it didn't work as well as it was supposed to, so it was removed.

Since the new Tony Hawk game is going to do it I think developers are watching closely to see if they can pull it off.If it's successful then we might see it in a lot sports games in the future.I think create-a-player features in videogames need to improved because I love to create in sports games.I haven't used the create-a-player for Tiger Woods because I don't like golf but I do wanna see if it's as good as everyone says.I want create-a-player features in sports games to get as in depth as wrestling games though.

Face in the game helped me become a patcher...so im thankful for that but it doesn't automatically blend the face. I think it would be a good feature for console users if they can somehow get their pic onto their console hard drive.
