Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

I remember that when people were interviewing the maker of nba live 04' they said that there is a secret to the game that they are not releasing until closer to the game's release date so people wont steal it, have they released it yet? I hope it's a dunk contest, or nbdl play.

I don't think the big secret is a dunk contest. Maybe they already revealed their secret, but I think it has to do with the dynasty mode. Perhaps they have an option that you can import players from March Madness into Nba live like Madden has, I dunno. Hopefully, it will be something groundbreaking like the freestyle control last year, and I would like to see the big secret being something in gameplay.
maybe andrew has some inside information

It was announced long ago that you would be able to import players from March Madness, though that's neither here nor there for those of us who don't live in North America (there's no PAL release of March Madness).
If the big secret hasn't already been revealed, I can only speculate as to what it may be. I doubt it's a dunk contest, but rather than look foolish in the event that it is, I won't rule it out.

perhaps the brand-new dynasty mode is the secret itself?

The details of Dynasty Mode could collectively be EA's big secret. Now that we know a bit more about Dynasty Mode, either the cat is out of the bag or we'll just have to wait and see.

i have an idea, believe or not
the NBA live 's secret is, maybe, different mode of one-one-one like the Horseball?
it just a supposition, i just think,

I guess anything's possible, but my guess is that the secret (if it hasn't already been revealed) has something to do with Dynasty Mode or at least the 5 on 5 gameplay.

I have a gut feeling that the big secret is that there will no longer be a fee required to play NBA Live online via EA. What do you think?

I'd be very dissapointed if this is the case, but I think the majority of players play the game against the computer, or against a friend, on their TV or computer.

Why would you be dissapointed if they made it free to play online?

Perhaps because he does not play online, therefore he see's little value in this feature.

I too, see little value in this feature as I myself do not play online either.

maybe the secret is/was the 2 buttons for shoot and dunk, or the altering your shot in the air, or maybe its the offball control like in nba street vol. 2... but i really would like to see a secret feature.. i like suprises!

Those were all mentioned fairly early though, and they're fairly little things. You'd expect a big secret to be revealed with a little more fanfare.

Could it be the EA Sports Hall of Fame?

Personally, I think all the big "secrets" have been revealed...with the big suprise that EA referred to in their interview being the depth of the dynasty mode. Having said that...I think that there will be a lot of neat little suprises that everyone will discover when playing the game...but I doubt it will be anything as significant as the dynasty mode.
EA has nothing to gain by keeping any more secrets...they've got two weeks to build up the hype for their game and I think they've revealed all the significant improvements already.

I know Andrew disagrees with me on this, but I still think I've seen enough clues to point out that the secret will be a 30th user created team in dynasty mode.

Are u talking about the PC version cause the PS2 version online play is free already. it was free last year and it will be free this year. I 4 one love the online play casue its also alot of people online to play and they all play different and u learn alot. I also plan on being ranked this year in the top 10 or so. I would recommend online play to anyone who has live(or madden). Of course their r some people that try to spoil the online play by dissconnecting, quitting, pausing excessively, etc. but madden has done a good job of tracking these things so before u play anyone u know their dissconnect percentage, wins, losses, and how good their connection is. as long as live does the same things then online play will be even better and is something i am really looking forward too.
As for the big secret i really think it was the dynasty features, and 2 button, etc. the stuff we now know. there has be talk that EA is having a NBA Live Challenge(like the madden challenge) so that could be the secret but i truthfully dont think that is the secret but i wouldn't mind a live challenge.

Could it be a dunk contest during the all star weekend in the dynasty
Kind of like lasts years live all star game
Wed Oct 08, 2003 8:51 am
I think they meant 'little surprises here and there' but since the interview, there has been a lot of speculations about this 'secret' and we started to have some big expectations for it. maybe there is no such thing as one big secret.
Wed Oct 08, 2003 9:25 am
i think the secret is a more detailed all star weekend, u will just prolly but about to simulate it but not play it, like it will show highlights of the nba dunk contest, 3 point, the 2 ball, or maybe not that and the other thign wit the NBA point guards, i dont know im just guessing

Anything added to an allstar weekend would be cool

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if the big secret turned out to be a dunk contest. To me, a dunk contest seems like a feature EA would want to hype rather than keep secret, which means if it isn't mentioned, it probably isn't in the game.
Guess we'll find out soon enough (for some of us, not soon enough

).

ill find out tommorrow
