Player Ratings

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

How can you rate Vince Carter over Paul Pierce? He has not been better in any of the seasons they have played. Vince won the Rookie of the Year award, but every single basketball analyst aknoweldged that Pierce was a better player/had a better season, but Vince was just more of a flamboyant player which was why he won.

I can not think of a single thing that Vince can do better than Pierce (except more exciting dunks, but Pierce is no slouch in the dunk department). There is not a single player, owner, GM, or knowledgable fan who, given the choice of Vince or Paul, would not take Pierce.

I'm just curious why you would pick Carter over Paul.

Well hell, Dirk's only a 84.

And to whoever said Kobe should be highest rated.... NO. There are lots of factors contributing to having the highest rating, and it has nothing to do with the fact that big men like Shaq and Tim Duncan are not going to handle the ball like Kobe (even through TD did run the fastbreak and crossover, then dish a no look pass in the NBA Finals). Other than dribbling and 3pts or 360 double pump dunks, what can't Shaq or Tim Duncan do???
Larry Bird lacked flashy ball handling and athleticism, but at points in his career, not even athletic dunking machines like Nique or Jordan could overcome him. And Kobe can't dominate a game like Shaq.

Highest Rated
1. Duncan, KG, Shaq(yeah Shaq, cause when he's healthy... (Y) )
2. Kobe, TMac
3. JKidd
4. AI
5. Jermaine Oneal
6. Paul Pierce
7. Ben Wallace
8. Steve Francis
9. Vince
10. Ray Allen

- Nowitzki should NEVER make the top 10. He can't play defense!!!!!!!

I don't think Ben Wallace should be in the top 10.

Hey Ceasar121,
Kobe can take over a game quite nicely actually and the same with T-Mac
I believe you are wrong.

However, I believe Shaq should still be the best rated and I think that Tim Duncan will be overrated. I know that he won the MVP but I still think that he is overrated

Given that the high ratings wouldn't be a problem with improved gameplay (and sliders to boot), I would have preferred to keep the overall ratings from Live 2003.

A starting point guard, 58 overall? Those are the weirdest ratings I've seen outside of a heavily tweaked roster patch. :?

Let me do some conversion...
by multiplaying 1.12 (to make Dirk's rating 94)

R.Laf 73
Dirk 94
Antawn 85
Finley 92
Strickland 65

Miller 78
CWebb 96
Peja 82
Doug Ch 74
Bibby 75

Now looks close to their 2003 ratings, doesnt it?

I think I played 2003 way too much. Overall rating 73 looks like sh*t now.
I used to release everyone with overall ratings less than 75. I will be left with Chris Webber alone.
