i just saw the video and man  , what a game, i'm not that much bothered by the sliding and stuff, and even less by the 3ft. "box" when the ball goes outta bounds(of curz it's a lil les realistic but heck, u cant have everything), and fast breaks actually happen a lot, no offence to you at all andreas :) , but if everyone is gonna complain with every fast break djeez man, you cant expect to have just one fastbreak in a game  , this is the way the ballgame is played these years, lots of running and gunning, and also the difficulty was starter i think, so for now i'm satisfied with the score after one quarter even if its only five min quarters. There was one block in the vid though,if im right vince blocked james one time in the 1-on-1, the jumping thing will hopefully be improved but so far the games looks great i think

yup, i noticed that when i watched it the second time, but i didn't bother posting it...
the block looked good though, pretty clean (and didn't fly down the other side of the court )

thanks a lot for the screens buddy :)

nothing wrong with old school andreas  , and the blok was (y), but for one reason i just like the way the game is showed better on such a video then on my own pc(graphics and gameplay), though my pc is quite heavy and up to date(pentium4, enough ram :p, only my gforce is a gforce 2 but ow well :P )

Oh man, I could start to cry when I read what you write in here...
1) IMO the graphic isn't that good...nevertheless being it screens taken as described of a video for PS2. But look at the gear of Dirk an Jason Kidd. Nobody in the Nba has such shorts as Kidd. And Nowitzki looks more like Thomas Gottschalk.

2) Fast-breaks. Look into the stats of a NBA game. You will usually see 7-12 fast-break points by team per match. When I hear now there have been many fast-breaks I get angry. In my 12 min quarter games I got 30-40 points through fast-breaks. And they didn't work on that crap. And that has nothing to do with run-and-gun. Run-and-gun is not a fast-break like you can see it in NBA Live. There always 2-3 man start and are 4 times faster then the defense and get the open shot. Take a look at a whole NBA match and you will see that happening about 5 times for each team. Not like in Live, where every defensive rebound is a potential fast-break with no defender between you and the basket.

3) I wanna play basketball. With that silly play-for-a-headband and those other buying-features playing basketball gets into the background. I simply wanna play ball. A whole 82 games season, with 12 min quarters, realistic results, trades, statistics etc. After that season I want realistic FA signings, trades, player-improvements, rookies, etc. Non of these features was there in Live '03.

I don't want to take away all the anticipation you had, but mine is going to "0". And that is caused by EA. I don't need such crappy new features, where I can get old shoes of Jordan, when Steve or Dahl (no attack on the other patchers, simply two examples), will have to remake them because they look too silly.
I want a basketball game. And I want that since 5 years. And I didn't get it. Despite removing the failures EA makes new crap...sorry, but that's my opinion and don't spend to much hope on the sliders. Ask the people of NHL 2002 that wanted a realistic game. They had sliders. And they helped nothing...

"Thank you" EA

Neusorger....i know how you feel.....i feel the same way about things in SPORTS that aren't such a big deal to other like LOGO's , Jerseys , Arena's ,Court Designs....You get the point....i've been waiting since 1997 for every damn SPORTS game to do something like this....god....thats a long time....(i was like 7 years old in 1997...or something) And to be waiting since then is a damn hard task to deal with and jesus finally gave me....the chance.....to do some of this stuff.......and personally i think people don't give a Crap about Uniforms , Arena's/Stadiums , Logos's , Field Designs/Court Designs , and all that stuff.....its not just boring aol' everyday thing.....and....EA Finally....put in ARENA's.....thats the reason NBA2K OWNED (i played NBA2k and Liv at the same time) it was official...and EA has finally listened to me.....and.....its pretty sad how NEW FEATURES don't mean SHIT to you Neusorger.....its just plain ol sad......you should be glad EA is making it better at all.....if EA wasn't trying....you'd be playing a damn Season mode with Crappy USer Trades and just...crap....like LIVE 98...just be glad your even gonna play this damn game.....be glad there is an NBA store because if your too damn lazy to find a damn PATCH you can go to the NBA Store.....thank you and such.

(I'm not trying to arguewith anyone....i'm just saying i don't wanna start any argument also)

neurosurger calm down man lol. The game will be easily tailored to suit your needs and anyone else who has their idea of how basketball should be played ...by "sliders". The dont worry about the nba store that is a great addition because its fun basically when ur not actually playing a game, an essential part of any modern sports game in my opinion, you should be able to do things offt he court as well as on it. The most important thing is that you have a good platform for which to work from and create ur idea game. if there are no glaring flaws in the game engine then u can do whatever u want and have fun. Nothing to get all emotional about lol.

I have a great idea for us NBA Live 2003 Patchers.....how about......someone make a TITLE SCREEN PATCH and a LOADING SCREEN patch so that it looks like you started up NBA Live 2004  and then someone can make a Menu Tweak not the whole thing but make the Live 2003 logo and change it to the nba live 2004 LOGO and change the LEFT SIDE of the Interface and replace that giant Metallic part crap with an NBA Logo! It would make people jealous and go "YOU GOT NBA LLIVE 2004?!"

I wish there was more running and gunning in the real NBA, though. Most teams just play slow. But NJ and Dallas run, so this game looked fine.

About people being to lazy to find a patch. A large majority of Live players don't know these sites exsist. And many of thme couldn't use them anyway because they use consoles.

well i finally got a clear look at nba2004, when i bought nba live for the very first time nba2003(all others were burned etc) and i played it for a while i promised myself that i would NEVER buy a NBA line game until they change it totaly new, like if i was playing NBA99 and then bought 2003, total change.

but realy look at the diff, the game is faster, u cant get much better graphix on the game then 2003 and all they added was a shop of stuff that barly does anythingthing!! its not like those shoes will cause less injury or faster running or jumping, how many of u actualy notice the shoes while playing??!!
and its like Neusorger said they are still missing the point, they are putting arcade style in waht supose to be simulation. OK i dont mind arcade with some ratings, i dont care about the ratings just make sure that the CPU does the same. i mean if u can avrage 38 BPG with a team what the hell is that??? I know that games were made to be won but this is awaful.
they need to consentrate on AI then do all that stuff!!
and dont tell me that tweaked patches will fix the prob, we all know it doesnt do jack shit!! all of u who claim to test it are just trying to achive realistic scores, i can also get 25% shooting while all my players are 99!!
a game s made to runa certain way and no patch will fix that.

just look at the game a try to imge playing it with "COOL SHOES" for 2 months??? this game has very few patterns which can be spoted easylly! thats the problem!

Well, they've also added a new multi-season mode (Dynasty Mode) that includes the same features as before (free agency, trades, rookie draft) with a few new things (trading of draft picks for example). They've also added sliders so that we can adjust various aspects of the gameplay.

I don't think NBA Live 2004 will just be NBA Live 2003 with updated rosters and different graphics.

Tue Sep 02, 2003 10:37 pm

Does somebody know what things we will be able to adjust with the sliders? :?:

Tue Sep 02, 2003 11:16 pm

I believe field goal percentage, overall game speed, blocks and steals will all be represented by sliders (in some form).

Tue Sep 02, 2003 11:23 pm

I would be happy when only steals weren't so high. Because so the opponent wouldn't have the ball so often and his FGA amount would be lowered automatically.

I do.

Shoes are a very big part for me since I'm a shoeaholic. I love 'em, so I put them in game. When I meet someone, I look at their shoes. When I see the game I say to myself, 'Damn those are some tight shoes, glad I got those.' They also make it looks less default with everyone not wearing the same shoes.

on maybe in person i also love the shoes, but in a game its just a pic, i mean in real life u can see some diff b/w good shoes and bad with contrll and grip, in the game no diff

To me it is obvious that the video is based on a very rough version of the game. There is a lot of work still to be done...many of the graphics are missing...the game speech is incomplete...Nick Van Exel is still on Dallas...etc. This is not unusual in the development of a video game and so I am not too concerned about some of the issues that are being discussed...as I know they will be addressed for the final version. As anyone who has ever worked under an imposed deadline...90% of the work gets done near the end when the pressure is on! It is that way when you're in school when you've got an assignment to do and it is that way in the working world too. I don't doubt that the EA team has already switched into overdrive and are working to tweak and polish the game in preparation for the October release...

I know people have mainly focused on the gameplay when watching the video...but I'm curious as to why nobody has mentioned the new Trophy room, record books etc...which were also shown in the video...
