fines and suspendens

Mon Jul 07, 2003 1:31 pm

i was think this might be a good idea to add into the live games, maybe not so much fines but suspendens should be, because if you commit a flaqertant(i can't spell, lol) foul if it is #1 or #2 you get suspended if you tally up too much points, it think it is 5, like how artest is good but he gets suspeneded so much

I personnaly don't want to see it as EA would over do it. But if it happened very infrequently, like maybe 7 a year (and 5 of them being the Blazers) I'd be OK with it I guess. Andrew thinks this is a bad side of basketball that needs not be introduced.

Naw, they can keep this out. It would be getting away from the game of basketball. The game is rated E for everyone so young kids shouldn't be worrying about their players sexually assualting their wifes, doing drugs or any of that crap.

This would dip into the darker side of some of the players and thus it will not be added. NHLPA had hard time to allow fighting to go on in EA's NHL games, I just would like to see the NBAPA's(the players ascosiation) representative after someone suggested to him that this would be in the game.

And fighting is something that is a part of hockey. Arguing with the ref is a part of the game (and we've seen cutscenes of that), but assaulting wives at home is definately not a part of the game.

Yes, I know. :)

Suspensions for flagrant foul points is fine. It's fair enough - if you're going to commit a lot of flagrant fouls, you'll have to pay the price when you accumulate 6 flagrant foul points.

But I don't see the need for drug suspensions and the like. I don't think they'd be able to include such things due to legal issues, but it's unnecessary detail.

Exactly. I'm OK with arguing as long as I can control when my players do that, but it wouldn't be cool to have suspensions for assault/drugs/whatever. As Metsis said, it's not part of the game - thus it doesn't have to be in the game.

Fines and suspensions would be a good addition IMO, but like Andrew, don't go to far with it.

But would the fines actually mean something? Obviously a suspension would leave you without the player for a certain amount of games, but the fine would just be a meaningless detail. A nice touch, but with no real significance.

Thus no need to be added :) (cuz it would substract from the players weighe but not for the benefit of the team so it actually hasnt got to do anything with the team if he is fined by the nba thus no need to put in dynasty mode i think)

There is one thing that could be affected by these fines. If there is some sort of a happiness system included, well a 5000 dollar fine would certainly knock down the players happiness down a couple of nothces. And the rest of the team could be affected too. Either supporting and understanding the fined player or not... But this is all too hypothetical.

Just a thought... Still I'd like to see fines ordered on plays on the court. And suspensions too.

when i said suspensions i didn't mean from sexual assults and drugs, i just meant from flaqrant fouls, they would have to rate the game teen i guess if they included sexual assults and crap, but i thought just of flaqrant fouls.

I don't think the NBA would ever allow it anyway. They would probably agree to suspensions due to flagrant foul points.

That would work, assuming there is some kind of happiness or morale meter. If there wasn't, it would just be a superfluous detail.
