Salary Cap / Cap Points

Tue Aug 16, 2005 9:21 pm

Hello, I'm new in this Forum. I come from Germany and can't speak English very well. But I hope everybody can understand me :).

I have a quetion! The Point Limit in the dynasty mode is 1,000,000 points. But i have started a dynasty mode and I am 398,00 above the point limit. So I only can sign free agents with a minimum contract. But why am I above the ponit limit, an when must I be under the point limit?

Thanks for your anwers :)

Welcome to the forums...

1: You're above the point limit because your players contracts add up to over 1,000,000 points. The best way to bring this down under the point limit, is to trade players who are getting alot of points for players who have expiring contracts. When their contracts expire, it takes their salary off the amount of points you're paying which means you would be able to buy free agents if you can afford it.

2: You don't really have to be under the point limit at any stage... it just comes in useful when you want to sign free agents basically. It is pretty difficult to stay under the cap limit though, so if there's a player you want the best idea is to trade for him.

Anything you don't understand, just ask (Y)

When you're managing your team (ie when you see your team cap and your players points), check the players who have long contracts (with more than 2 years remaining), and who eats too many of your cap room compared to their on-court performances.

Then try to trade these players to equivalent players who are in the last year of their contracts (=expiring contracts). It's sometimes difficult as your player's salary must be within 115% of the player salary you get.

As the players you will get in return are in the last year of their contract, they won't count anymore in your cap room after the offseason, and you'll be able to sign free agents.

I hope I was clear :) Good luck and have fun
