Crashes upon starting

I just re installed windows xp. Then I installed live 2004. When i click on the live 2004 icon to play, the title image comes up and then it dissapears.. nothing after that. Sounds like an easy problem to me but im clueless. please help.

that happened to me before but it was on live03. try running directx diagnostics and check if direct3d and direct draw is enabled...

It could be a problem with your graphics card, have you had live 04 up and running on that pc before?
Thats what mine was doing when i first got the game. It might not be your card but worth looking into.

yeah i had live running fine on this computer for a while... other games i play work fine too. dont think its my graphics card. i have radeon 9700 pro. thanks for advice.

Just run Windows Update and it installs the update so the game works. I can't remember which update it is specifically but I have this problem everytime I reinstall Windows XP. Once it has downloaded all the windows updates NBA Live 2004 runs fine..

open the technical support file, click guides, click directx, theres a button there that will run dxdiagnostics when you click it. check if direct3d and direct draw is enabled.

i have installed all the updates and still doesnt work....this problem was happening before the reinstallation of windows too... so i dont think your advice would be the the solution of my problem. thanks very much for your feedback.

I ran dxdiagnostics... no problem found in any areas...direct3d and direct draw are enabled....now what?
