Actually I find the off-ball moves quite good if ur trying to get a player open for a good look! It is probably the best way to get someone open in the game!
I always use direct passing especially when I want a specific player to take over the game (eg. Kobe Bryant/Shaq). I find it to also be a useful tool!

yes but u can also use pick and roll play.
