Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I looked over the stickies and other past threads before deciding to post, so please forgive me if this question is stupid and/or old. In threads here about creating custom team, editing players, etc., the instructions said to edit the game's DBF files in order to make changes. Someone at the GameFaqs.com boards said that this could be done with a DBF editor like Excel. I was able to open and view the DBF files with a database program on MS Works (basically the same thing as Excel). However, when I try to save my changes, I get a message saying that I can't because the files are "read only." I tried getting help on GameFaqs.com, but that board is basically dead. Can any of you guys tell me what to do?

I just use Excel. After you finish, just press the save Icon. Not "save as..." because then it won't save into the right format.

If you're using DB Commander, the changes are saved once you input a value and move to another cel. It's recommended that you edit saved rosters rather than the roster dbf files in workingdb/currentdb etc, so that you can easily re-load the rosters with the changes you've made.
Be sure to make backups, especially if you're messing around with a saved Dynasty.
