Switching Positions?

Do players overall's improve if you switch them from their natural position to either their secondary position or another position?

[Example:
Shareef is rated 74 at PF, but in my franchise I moved him to C so that Martin could play PF. His overall jumped a point to 75 when I moved him though. ]

Do ratings adapt to the positions that players are in? Like if you had a versatile 7 footer at SF (Dirk?)

Yes. In my Dynasty I had Wade at PG and I changed him to SG and he improved like 6 points

The ratings don't change. They stay the same when you switch positions. But they affect the overall rating differently. For example, if you have a player with 99 quickness, speed, dribbling and passing and make him a center, his overall rating will not be as good as it would be if he played PG.

PG for example must have good passing and dribbling ratings. The Overall-Rating just rates the players abilities for this precise Position.

Overall Ratings are indeed affected by player position. Note that when you create a power forward or centre and leave all of the ratings at 50, his overall rating will be 51. For the other three positions, the overall rating will be 50 (as you would expect). This compensates for big men, who aren't expected to have great ballhandling skills or three point range.

that doesn't make sense to me...little men aren't supposed to be good offensive rebounders or shot blockers .

I believe those ratings are less of a factor for guards the same way dribbling and passing ratings aren't as big a factor for big men. Because smaller players are not expected to be great rebounders or shot blockers, those ratings are not weighted as heavily when calculating their overall rating.
