Controller or joystick? which is better

Postby Matt on Fri Mar 26, 2004 11:33 pm

hey, i just got a new computer and am gonna get either a joystick or a Logitec controller (exactly like a PS2 controller)

not sure which one to get. I used to have a Sidewinder joystick with 10 buttons which i liked, but then i switched to PS and used a controller. now i'm not sure what is better

can i get some feedback from users?

For Live? Are you kidding? A controller, is better, of course! That is, of course, unless your joystick has two analog sticks. :)

The Logitech gamepad, hands down. My personal preference is a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog gamepad, but I'd take the Logitech gamepad over a joystick any day.

speaking of controllers, i saw a thread in nbalive.org where one dude, all credit goes to him and as the sites down i'm unable to remember his name but anyways, he was able to manipulate the keyboard controller config so that you could use the freestyle buttons on the keyboard (both from the triple threat position and while moving, just like when you're using a analog gamepad).

He copied

bind axis0 XAXISCHANGE
bind axis1 YAXISCHANGE
bind axis2 RYAXISCHANGE
bind axis4 RXAXISCHANGE

from the afterburn controller config, and pasted in your custom keyboard config below the callplay bind and you just change the keys appropriately.

A couple of ppl said that it has worked for them but when i did it only two of the buttons work, the other two buttons suddenly become move back and move left. I was hoping that perhaps someone here can figure out how to fix that.
