Button lag online

Does anyone else have the problem, especially playing online, where you press a button (or combo of buttons) and nothing happens? It ruins many games for me because so much of my game is to drive and dish to the open guy I get more turnovers that way than I'd like to think about, not to mention missed opportunities.

I have the Thrustmaster Dual Power (something like that) controller. A guy I played last night told me that he thinks it's my controller. He uses a USB adpater to a PS2 controller and said his problems vanished.

Edit: How I hope that EA goes with Xbox Live next year and we figure out a way to get NLSC rosters on the Xbox. EASO stinks!
