We all know that currently the coachs do nothing in the game, but it would be interesting to see teams with a good coach execute plays and get easier shots then teams without one, also more advanced plays would be easier with a good coach. For example, if the cavs, grizzlies o nuggets ran the same complex play as a team like the kings, lakers or pacers, they would not be very succesful, however when the better team did it it would more frequently work. Of course this would really only work for cpu teams which makes one wonder if ea would consider this for over 4 seconds.

Not really much more you can say. It's a good idea but as you have already pointed out, it might not be as easily implemented for user controlled teams, since it's up to you to call plays and control the players executing them.

i think in nba live 2004 if a team is lossing bad the coach should be sacked and the cpu generates a new one, like when it drafts rookies because lets face it few coachs last 10 years with one team so it would make it more realistic

what they could do is increase the turnovers for the bad teams and decrease then for the good, instead of having about the same amount for every teams

THey should have coaches with different ratings like they rate the players. And if you have a poor rated coach, if you try to call for a play, the team runs the wrong play or the play is executed poorly. They can take it one step further, they already rate the players for offensive and defensive awareness so the players with low offensive awareness will run the wrong play or be in the wrong position and players with low defensive awareness will always leave their player open or just be in the wrong position when you run a defensive play. Or say the coach has high ratings in slow it down style (such as Fratello or Van Gundy), if you try to fast break, your players won't be able to fast break as well.
You could rate the coaches for offensive plays, defensive plays, and style of play(fast break or slow it down offense), chemistry(how coach deals with maniac players such as rodman and player disputes), improvement potential(a coach such as larry brown would have high marks), and popularity. If a coach has a high popularity rating, it is possible the coach will be hired by some other team or the coach might command more money.
Don't know if that made sense because I just typed out what my thoughts on the issue were.

It would probably be more of an issue with CPU teams, as human intelligence can usually overcome poor execution by CPU teammates. It would also be significant in simulation. Lower rated coaches would not be able to utilise talented teams, nor would they overachieve with untalented teams. The coaches with the best ratings would more often than not get good results with the roster they have their disposal.

After playing Madden 2004, I really do think that coaching and trainers would make things interesting for the game. For example, similar to real life, there could be a couple coaches for each team, a team doctor, and a team trainer. Each one would have ratings like offense, defense, chemistry, etc. There would also be an option of coach free agency, which would allow the teams with the cash ($$$$$$) to get the best coaches. To add to the realism, a Madden style owner mode could also be developed with an option to use it or not use it while playing dynasty mode. This would most likely lead to real player and coach saleries, which would again increase the realism of the game. If the NBA Live producers stepped into the Madden side of the office, they could probably learn a lot, and mabye create a much better game than Madden.

A teams coach should affect the teams rating because their are many teams with talent but no chemistry or have bad coahcing, so a coach thats able to bring the team together can make them a force.
