Easy assists?

Sat Feb 14, 2004 1:18 am

I have a 35-5 season going on Superstar with more or less the default sliders. The one area of my game I would most like to improve is assist totals. Right now, I rarely get 5 assists from any one player, and the player who I am TRYING to get assists from the most averages about 3 a game.

Does anyone have success averaging 8+ assists with one player? What are some of your strategies for racking up the assists?

In previous versions of Live, I could get away with penetrate and dish, either from a guard getting in the lane or a big man backing down in the paint. This year, I am having more trouble getting my shooting guards and small forwards into position to post up. I think this would solve my problems.

Has anyone found set plays that consistently call for your shooting guard or small forward to post up on the blocks with shooters at the arc?

For me, I get a lot of assists...right now i'm 31-25 for my Rockets and I average about 22 assists a game...

I get my assists from the catch and shoot....I usually wait till somebody is open and then dish it to him for the open shot...
I also like to dump the ball into the post either to my C or PF and then wait for the double team...once the CPU doubles one guy on the perimeter is open and throw it out to him for the catch and shoot..
Its really fun when you hit those shots because its just like a NBA game...
Assists also come from fastbreaks as well...

I think the easiest way to get assists is to run your best shooter off a screen and have him catch and shoot.

Take your point guard or whoever, doesnt really matter. Place him at the topof the key. Call an isolation. Use off ball control and switch to another player. Run out to the top of the key(Make sure the defender follows you), and run around the guy with the ball. Make sure to run your defender into the ball handler. Then you should have an empty lane. Once you get in the lane call for the pass and finish. This play doesnt work well if you call for an alley-oop.

Also if you dump the ball into the post, back down once and shoot. If the cpu doubles you, kick it out to the guy he was guarding and drop the knock the J down.

iam currently playing a season with the lakers and are 25-1. Gary Payton averagers around 8 assist per game playing 6 minute quarters.the easiest way to get assist is to go to the left or right wing and dump the ball into your big men, post up and shot the jumper or hook shot.

you have do do this quick or the assist will not count.

I had major problems averaging ovr 5 assists a game with my PG until I mastered the pick and roll.

Call for a pick, run your defender into him. Big man will roll to the hoop. When he gets close enough for a dunk/layup give him the ball. Almost always guaranteed to score. That is, unless he gets hit and shoots that weak-@ss chuck. Don't get me started on that one...

against the zone, u will have a assist-fest if u have a good jump shooter
I just used the knicks against minnesota in a season on superstar, i'm 14-3 and Marbury just got 30 assists on the t-wolves, since the wolves play zone a lot, u wait till houston (or whoever your good jump shooter is ) is at the corner. then use marbury to back down on the guy on houstons side of the zone and then pass to houston, also make sure that the C or PF is calling for the ball, as he would be holding up the defender and leave houston open.

always pass the ball first to your guard after a rebound and you will have more or less an unconstested fastbreak :D
