How do you guys buy these garbage Live games every year?

Postby malice_05 on Thu Jan 08, 2004 12:42 pm

Live is so crap yo. This is my 2nd time purchasing Live and I'm already trying to take it back for my refund. Live is so garbage. If I had a PS2 I would cop ESPN so fast...
But theres a lot of you guys who buy Live every YEAR since like 97 or like 2000-how do you guys do it? IT is so unrealistic and so garbage. If anyone from EA Sports is reading, this goes out to you guys: EA Sports sucks and will lose to SEGA in upcoming years. Thanks for the 2 years of crap and making me get off of your products. The only thing about them is that they're addictive. But I can live without frustration in my life with these stupid scripts you call games.

Simple answer: Everyone has a different opinion. I've found NBA Live 2004 to be quite realistic with some slider tweaks, as have other people. Others aren't looking for realism, and with the right settings they can get the kind of game they are looking for.

You're not satisfied with NBA Live 2004 - that's your decision to make. Everyone has different tastes and different levels of tolerance and patience.

That's the best answer I can offer. We're all different, so we don't all have the same opinion.

I disagree...

I would have to disagree...I think that EA Sports (with the exception of the High Heat series) are the only games that are even CLOSE to realistic...all of the other games have herky-jerky arcade style motions for their players...they are all too fast and everything else just looks like the early version of NBA Jam or NFL Blitz...

ive been buying live ever year since 95 and all though there are better games out now (espn, inside drive) live is still fun, i dont care what anyone says, out the box live 04 is VERY unrealistic, now with the right slider adjustments it becomes pretty close to espn nba out the box, but with the right slider tweaks in that game live cant compete, either way live is still good imo, its just not the best game around anymore

having a straight up simulation game, where all teams jack up shots and only make 30% of them might be accurate to the real nba,
but Nba live 2004 is fun, which is wat matters in the end, since it is a basketball game after all :)

if you don't like it, return, get your money back, and by some pr0n.

I can never stop wondering why people make worthless posts like this. If they think they wasted money and time with a garbage game, why waste more time coming onto this website, registering and posting a garbage topic.

Also, there are too many nice people here who are kind enough to bother answering these posts. Reason why I like it here

I'll take the crappiest PC game over any console game anytime.

Another thing is, do we have a choice? How many NBA games are out there anyway?

I don't know what all the talk is about ESPN NBA. Aside from better graphics it's pretty much the same thing as NBA Live.

For the record: I like wrestling. I like NBA Live. I am not trying to insult you in any manner. I am merely stating something I found hilarious.

Is it just me or is it funny that a guy who has wrestling in his sig and as his name is on a thread discussing how "real" NBA Live is... and he's defending it.

Once again: I am not trying to offend you. I like both Live and wrestling. I am merely stating something I found funny. Do not take this personally. Actually, the same can be said about me since I like wrestling and find Live to be realistic.

whoa calm down. Some of you make some decent answers. The rest act like i insulted someone in your family. It is a game so if I insult it don't act like u just got punched in the face. I guess everyone has their own opinions so i won't post any hate material against Live. To tell u truth it was pissing me off becuase there are a lot of cheap things in it.
But u guys saying that Live is your life need to get a life and dont let someone trash talking a game offend you.

As opposed to what? Fans of any other "fake" TV show like ER or the West Wing? Ugh.

I think you need to back off...take your own advice and find something else to fill your free time instead of provoking people here. If you start flaming or insulting people you won't be here long.

Ah, almost a good point. However, ER and West Wing are not "fake" sports. They are programs containing thespians who attempt to carry a dramatic message across to viewers. The programs are taped ahead of time and have directors, producers, and various other people who make the show happen and get credit for it in the credits. WWE Raw is a program containing athletes, bodybuilders, big guys, and some thespians who attempt to fool the viewer into believing that what they just saw is as real as it gets. Raw is live and is not directed in the regular sense. Obviously, there is a man in a truck who is telling the cameramen what to cut to but he is not telling the wrestlers what to say or do in the ring. The wrestlers choreograph themselves. In essence, WWE is a sport with a predetermined ending. Of course, there are storylines and the like. However, these are also not carried out like ER and West Wing. The characters in Raw are far more extreme than any on ER or West Wing and make up their own lines... there is no script. WWE can be called a "fake" drama as much as it can be called a "fake" sport. It follows the rules of neither very well and has essentially created its own category. Therefore, my comment still stands as either way it is "fake".

Note: Once again, I am a wrestling fan. I am not trying to bash wrestling.

I'm playing LIVE since NBALive'96. I think 2004 is the best (and 2000 was very good, too!).

I have only one problem with the 2003 and 2004 edition (for PS2): without internet (nba-live.com, nbalive.org and the site from dpapollo) the games are not playable. You cannot "buy and play" - you must change (many) things.

But with the tweaked sliders and the rating-changes for the players the game (2004) is realistic.

BUT (for example): lay-up from Knight (CHA), blocked by White (PHO), off rebound from Ellis (CHA) and he makes the two = (speaker: "La-Phon-so El-lis --- the assist Tra-vis Knight")

hmmm ....

In essence...98% of shows on tv have predetermined endings.

All you're doing is splitting hairs to attempt to justify you attacking another member. There is no justification for attacking another member. And you need to find a better way to boost your self-esteem.

That will be it for this thread.
