Hi there,
any idea how to read the ID7 string for created players?
Access is giving me a string of square... DBFcommander some bars...
I wonder if there is a way to decode them to customize created players looks in Access without having them to be saved within the game
Last years was a string like ZZZABCD and was much more quicker coz we could identify generical strings for players with same look and patch them without entering the game.
And again... where is the list of the school? Ive noticed the ID changed from last year but I cant find the dbf file in which they are.
Cheers, ciao,
B

ID7 is the speech file ID. The values you're referring to used to be present in the PLAYERPKG field.

Yeah, sorry I knew that... wot I meant is that this yr it seems there is the opposite of last edition: for created players you have got a null player package and thos strange squares for ID7: I'll try changing/swapping them to see the difference in the game but I reckon this yr is ID7 drivin the look in the game (since for original players ID/ and PLAYERPKG have the same value it could be that our EAmates mismatched the fields).

I too have been looking for a way to read that string. EA is storing everything it this year, skin tone, face, hair, etc. I personally hate it. I think it's entirely possible they switched them on accident this year, if I find anything out, like how to read it, I will let you know.
EDIT: Actually, I looked at the create player files. EA got rid of the "ZZZZZZA" and such like it was before...now they're just like "head002." That's why it's not like the good old days.

Ben,
what dyou mean with "head002"... where have you find that info encoded?
The only thing Ive been able to come up with has been reading the square string with hex editor (copy in a text file and read the text file with hex editor) but its only for readin them since you cant copy back.
Any idea where the schools list is? And what the eplayers - eteams file are for?
Ive been able to easily convert 2k3 players files in a 2k4 format but cant manage to give the right face to created players so they are all playing with the dull same face!

In xpotato.viv are all the create player parts.
The schools list is in files in the loc folder, open them in EAGE and you can extract the schools file and open in it notepad or something. It's almost useful. One of these days I might go through and number them all, but I don't want to do that just yet.
No idea about eplayers and eteams.
Maybe we could hex edit the players.dbf...that would be a bitch and a half though. Like the olden days...
