Freestyle....Effective?

I am using the PS2 version and have only had it a few days, it seems to me this year that the freestyle options are not that effective this year. Dont get me wrong i like the fact that you cant score at will like 03 but i find that my freestyle move are more for show this year than getting space etc.
Anyone noticed this?
By the way i am new here, have been playing since live 95 and follow the knicks from here in Australia. Am goiong to the US in March and hope to catch a game in Arizona.

I'm also here in Aus and been playing since 1995. I have 2004 on my PS2 and have found that some of the free stlye moves do very little, but if you are running up the court(turbo) from a missed shot by the PC, they can be very effective as you blow past the Comp's PG at the 3pt line and go in for an easy lay-in.

Try experimenting with the slider for Freestyle Effectiveness and see how that goes.

Thanks for the advice. I have been able to do that a few times. But i dont like playing with the sliders as i would like to beat the game without making it easier for me.
