UNITE FOR BETTER PC BASKETBALL

Sun Dec 07, 2003 7:13 am

My friends, EA Sports has a monopoly on PC basketball. They have no market competition and therefore have absolutely no incentive to improve their game, patch it or even make a dynasty mode that's as good as they made it 4 YEARS AGO!
I'll repeat that- Live was a better game 4 YEARS AGO.
Also Ea sports has possibly the most inaccessible customer support anywhere. They have a long list of questions and are absurdly hard to reach. WE have to do something to create a better PC basketball game, be it petition sega to make theirs for the pc or go and collectively slap Gary Lam.
I'll heed your suggestions here, and as a group hopefully we my come up with a solution.

I'm in. I doubt we can do anything, but still, its worth a try...

you aren't forced to buy the game, and imo the game has progressively gotten better.

There are other games out there, none of which are nearly as good as Live, so what exactly are you comparing it to? to which standards are you grading the game? I think Live 04 plays great, is pretty much fully customizable and is better than 03, which is the point.

Not flaming you, just stating my opinion.

Have you tried their official support page on ea website?
It takes a bit of time (like 2 days for me), but they did try to answer my question.

most of us here could probably do any company's tech support better than the people they have doing it.

and sure nba live 2004 has a ton of flaws, but it has a ton of good points too. i enjoy the game, so i buy it. no one has ever held a gun to my head and told me i had to buy an ea sports title, at least not yet ;)

Oh blah, not to flame or ne thing but as much as I want to join in on this plan it's probably futile. EA is probably the biggest game company in the world today, and of course the bigger the company gets, the more they lose sight of their loyal fans/customer base which helped them make it this big. Sure, they say all the right stuff about "oh we care about our fans" or "oh we strive each year to bring you the best experience", but it's obvious by now that the only thing they want is your $$$ while putting the least amount of time/effort. They realize they're putting out garbage most of the time (Live 2003) and yet ppl are still buying it, so why put in that extra effort?? If they were really doing what they SAY they're doing, Live 2004 wouldn't have any of the bugs from previous years. You'd think the FIRST thing they would address are problems from before, and not just adding new junk. The SAVE GAME problem really bugs the shit outta me. Same with the turnovers off blocked shots. The overall lack of tweaking of the game play is quite evident this year (lack of cpu midrange game, abuse of pro-hop, etc.). But oh well, as long as they can do slightly better next year and fix some of the things that SHOULD have been done before it was released this year, it's good enough for them!

As for patching, what incentive does EA sports even have to release patches for us PC users? They made their money off you already, you're willing to pay each and every year for the new version, so to them it's a done deal. Agreed, the argument is that they SHOULD care, but let's face it..when you're that big and have a monopoly on the market, you're the one in control and you don't have to listen to petty little demands from a small group of gamers that represent the PC market.
