What is the best PC controller to use for freestyle?

I really like Gravis's Eliminator Aftershock.

but yo i jus got a brand spanking new eliminator 'rumble' in the mail today and its mad tight.
its like a stepped version of the aftershock but its all black with silver buttons and the button response is way better along with the controls are tighter than the aftershock.i would post a pic but i dont think its available to the public yet.

I got this and I absolutley love it. It's a shame the snalogs aren't also buttons a la the PS2. But everything else is fantabulous.

How good is Logitech Dual Action? i'm trying to get a cheapest controller with analog sticks.

Personally, I love it. Not only the design is sleek, but it's comfortable and the analog sticks are very nice. I can tell you that it's very precise, and even though I don't use it, but the analog sticks (if you push down on them) act as buttons as well. For the price, it's a great controller.

How precise is it? No delay time whatsoever? When used on freethrows in Live 2003, are they as precise as playing on a Playstation?

I'm considering on replacing my ps2 controller (using ps2-to-usb adaptor) for a new controller because the response time particularly in freethrows sucks and it catches my timing off-guard when i switch back playing on the Playstation to the PC version (& vice versa).

To be honest, I never played the PS2 and my last controller was a Gravis Gamepad Pro. The Logitech Dual Action was the newest controller that I used. In NBA Live 2003, the response time for buttons is damn quick and free throws are great, imo. The precision of my analog sticks is amazing.

Keyboard is unusable if you want to dribble on this game. BTW why go for alternatives that look like a ps2 controller when you can use your actual PS2 controller, plus its only 16 bucks...

Some people (like me) don't have a PS2, so it'd be cheaper to buy a PC controller that looks like a PS2 than a PS2 controller and an adapter

I saw at Toys R Us, yesterday, that EA Sports had controller for PS2. Looks really sweet, with its chrome look. Has anyone used this? Do you think you'll get any extra benefits from the game since it is an EA Sports product?

I'd buy it just for the way it looks, but I'm waiting for Live to come out on PC.

Well, I decided to nix getting a controller......instead, I'm going to buy one of those USB connection thingees where you can plug in your PS2 controller....you may ask why don't I just go ahead and buy Live for PS2...well, I have 3 reasons:

1. Patches, patches, and more patches

2. I don't have to share the TV with my roomate.

and

3. I've always enjoyed live on the PC.

Has anybody encountered problems with the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad? I just got it this past Wednesday and already Thursday I found that the left-analog stick has problems.

It's jittery in the callibration setup and it affects gameplay tremendously.

It seems to work fine for about 5 minutes but then the players become very sluggish when trying to move to the right. I'm returning it back to EBgames.com.

I took a look at the forums on the Logitech website and people encounter the same problems--only with different games.

Also, is the NYKO AirFlo PC controller any good? I'm thinking of getting that instead.

Other than the design and other physical differences, what's the difference between the dual action game pad and the rumble pad? Which one works better for live 2004?

The best controller choice is definitely to buy a PS2 to USB converter. I got mine off ebay for $6.
Works flawlessly in all my games using my PS1 controller.

I use an Xbox Controller S with a usb adapter. I managed ot find some kickass drivers and now Its just like palying on a console, only better

I'd reccomend a ps2 or xbox controller/usb adapter, depending on your preference. Me, i like the xbox controller s more than the ps2.

An USB PSX/PS2-like gamepad or a DualShock PSX/PS2 pad with an USB adaptor are fine.

I'm using a PSX-like USB pad with analog sticks, from GamTec. Product name is GamTec TwinShock. It comes with two pads linked (for a great 2 player game ) with a single USB connector. The system detect it like two pads which are fully configurable within Live04.

I love my logitech wingman cordless. It's just so awesome, the only other thing I'd want is for the analogs to also be buttons, but there's 6 buttons on top anyways instead of 4 so it still works.

I'm using the PS2/PSX to PC USB Controller Adapter (2 players)
It's an adapter for the PS or PS2 controller, I use a PS controller w/c is very convenient and ergonomic, and soft buttons.. I really like it. And all controls map nicely to nba live.

the only downside, is there is no rumble, but i think the reason is that rumble was not really supported for pc version of nba live.. cause my other games function nicely w/ rumble.

I'm using the xbox controller with a hacked usb cord and drivers from the net too. I haven't tried the recent controllers for the PC, other than the MS Sidewinder I got a few years back. The xbox controller works great for me.
