Missed Legends

Thu Nov 06, 2003 11:54 am

There are a number of great players that weren't featured in this version of Live, such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Charles Barkley, Bernard King, Dave DeBusshere, etc.... I was just wondering, y they aren't in the game?

Thu Nov 06, 2003 12:02 pm

Some players cannot be added due to legal matters a la Jabbar and West.
Don't know bout the rest.

Thu Nov 06, 2003 12:42 pm

Any legends that are not in the game have been left out due to legal reasons. Whether they cannot appear in the game due to a deal with another game developer, they asked for too much money or they simply weren't interested in granting the use of their likeness in NBA Live 2004, EA cannot put them in the game.

Wat Company did Jabbar sign with? I would love to play with him in Live 2004. Hope Somebody makes a patch to fix this

He was in the game Slam and Jam 96 featuring Jabbar and Johnson

The names and nicknames for Barkley, Jabbar & West are "hidden" in the sound files. The shoes Barkley wore in 1993-94 are in the NBA store, and I sware CAP face #17 is his face scan from 2000 just put the thin mustache on him.

Also someone posted the nickname #s on one of these boards, quite a few retired players were on there. Even some of the lesser players were represented.

Having created Sir Charles in my current roster patch, I can tell you:

 His nickname is in the database (check out nicknames.dbf)
 His career stats are still in career.dbf
 The announcer will say "Charles Barkley", but Marv and Mike won't.

I'm using PS2. What ratings did you give him?

Thu Jan 08, 2004 1:07 pm

If you download my roster update for Live 2004, you can view ratings and player data using the Toolkit or DB Commander, without the need for the PC version.

A word of warning though; I'm not sure if the announcer will say "Charles Barkley" if you create him on the console versions (Marv and Mike certainly won't), and he definitely won't have a nickname. Additionally, you will not be able to place him on the Decade All-Star teams or in the Legends Pool.

it will be nice to have dennis rodman, charles barkley, pat ewing, john starks, tyrone bogues, anthony webb, ron harper, detlef schrempf, harold miner, isaia rider, cedric ceballos.......

Here are the ratings to some of the requested players, at least the ones I've done. Bogues, Ewing and Starks I should have done in a month or so. King, DeBusshere, Minor and Rider I have no current plans for. I do have a version of Kareem, but it's from so late in his career that I won't be posting it unless I post the entire 86-87 Lakers.

My way of calculating ratings aren't to everybodies tastes, so feel free to tweek them to suit your style.

Ratings are in the following order: Year, Team, Positions, Jersey #, Name, Height, Weight, Field Goal, 3-Point, Free Throw, Dunking, Inside Scoring, Offensive Rebounding, Jumping, Strength, Quickness, Speed, Passing, Dribbling, Offesive Awareness, Stealining, Blocking, Defensive Awareness, Stamina, Hardiness, Primacy.

Spud is 5'7, but Rodman is only 6'8.

Sat Jan 17, 2004 8:25 pm

Spudd: I had only two references for him, one said 5'7" the other 5'6". I went with the one I got his stats from, but the other is more reliable with heights.

Rodman: Every source I have state 6'8" 210. Even if he's not, I use as close to the "list" height and weight for players(i.e.: jordan is only 6'5", barkley is realy 6'4" 275+, etc).
