Let's talk about Create-a-Team!

Fri Jul 25, 2003 1:38 pm

I have been waiting patiently for the Live team to add the create-a-team feature back into NBA Live. If this feature is not in NBA Live 2004, there is definitely a serious problem here. It has been over 2 years now. This should not be a time issue; it shouldn't take too long to implement this feature back in at all! There is absolutely no excuse for this feature to not return right now. Pure laziness is present here and it's totally rediculous. That is a very vital feature to NBA Live and it has taken away my good view on this game. Does anyone else have a comment on this? I would like to here what you guys think about the pathetic, unnecessary absence of create-a-team in NBA Live. I would like to here your side on this.....

I would like to see a solid game before getting back things like create a team...

I want to see them create a game that works like it should before creating new features into the game.

And the create a team feature that was in Live 2001 or was it 2000, well that one was just something absurdly simple and it needs to be better and things have changed (like the production team) since it was last implemented.

I really don't miss it, so basically I wouldn't want to see it. I would like them to spend the time on making the game better.

Create-a-Team was last featured in NBA Live 2000.

The main drawback with the create-a-team feature was the lack of customisation. You had a choice of about six logos, none of which were usually suitable for your team name. You could only choose plain colours for your jerseys. If Create-a-Team makes a return, I'd like to see a little more depth added. More logos, specifically basketball-related logos, and a more detailed jersey editor.

yeah i agree..remember the octopus logo?? or the jackhammer?? what's up with that?? if create-a-team does make a return, it should be worth it..they should have a bunch of team names in the audio memory so that if you decide not to use your own team name the announcers won't just say "custom team A"
and i think it would be cool if create-a-team had a feature to replace teams also. so for instance if you don't like the Denver Nuggets, you could change their logo and name all together and just adopt their rosters.

I really don't think its going to take that much time away from EA making improvements to the basic gameplay for them to just re-implement the create-a-team feature. The only major improvements we asked for were just a few more trivial details, wider selection of logo's or maybe choosing a color scheme for your court and so on. Even with the basic system from 2000 back in place at least it would give us as patchers and artists something to build on.

True, there are ways of enhancing the basic create-a-team mode that was available in NBA Live 2000 by creating our own logos and so forth. But if it was to return, we'd probably expect it to be much better than before.

I think create-a-team was quite a good feature, with that was also the option of moving teams.
For me create-a-team always solved the problem of having an overload of free agents, two created teams gives places for 30 free agents and reduce "talent overload" on other teams, plus it would most likely reduce the amount of times teams would sign 85+ rated players for the minimum.
oh...and moving teams, well that was just handy :)
