HELP! I can't dunk-putback!

Sun May 11, 2003 5:23 am

... just anticipating. :D

Note: I am refering to a human controlled player attempting a dunk putback. I know some of you need to read the previous statement several times before you understand what I'm talking about.

As far as I know it's just random, but the following have to be there.
no opponents between you and the hoop
ball bounces towards you at a good angle
Timing, Timing, Timing

BTW, on the subject of getting screens of one, I have some bad ones of in-game colin doing a put-back dunk.

Sun May 11, 2003 6:49 am

LOL ... okay, let's see some screens.

[Here we go again]

Sun May 11, 2003 7:29 am

i don't have a website, and screens are too big for elitedatasystems.com I'll send them, whats ur e-mail address

Sun May 11, 2003 8:50 am

I've never actually successfully completed one I know I've gone after them a few times in 5 on 5 but it does it all the time in 1 on 1.

Mon May 12, 2003 12:19 am

Really? You have done them in 5 on 5??? With the player you are controlling???

1 on 1 you do them even when youdon't want to... But my player was averaging like 20 O boards a game and never once tip slammed it...:o

I've PM'ed you with my e-mail address a while ago and as of yet, haven't seen any screens. Are you still going to send them?

:?

Hehe, he had me going for a second there too:( Pity, I really like to know if the player contolled charcter can do it

No can do

Wed Jun 18, 2003 3:07 am

I really think it's impossible, I really take a lot of rebounds per game and never (I'm using KG) have dunked a put back :x :x :x

Wed Jun 18, 2003 6:13 am

I will be thoroughly disappointed if NBA Live 2004 does not allow a human controlled player to attempt/complete a dunk putback.

Wed Jun 18, 2003 9:36 am

Pisses me off cause yesterday I was playing... 1 point up at the end of the quarter, and their centre grabbed a full court shot off the rim and slammed it back in! Now in 1 on 1 you do it even when you don't mean it... But even if the key is open in Franchise, Season etc ect you don't do it... Just jump stupidly...

I am hopeing against hope its something you can do in 2004.

I actually attempted a put-back dunk during a Franchise game in Live 2003 yesterday, simply by pressing the Jump for Block/Rebound button. Mind you, the shot was already going in - had there actually been a rebound, I probably would have done the regular tip.

So you're player actually jump up to dunk the ball from the rebound??? And still tried to dunk it even though it went in???

Was it the charcter you were controlling???

Anyway, there should be a button for it... I got 34 offensive rebounds in a game before.. not one tip slam:(

Wed Jun 18, 2003 2:37 pm

Yeah, I switched to Nesterovic after launching a jumper with KG. It looked as though it would miss, so I pressed Jump to go for the offensive board. Rasho went for the tip dunk and grabbed hold of the rim, but the ball was already going in.

Wed Jun 18, 2003 3:02 pm

Sounds. Encouraging;)

Wed Jun 18, 2003 3:33 pm

Probably the last time I'll see it happen. Perhaps it will be easier in Live 2004.

Wed Jun 18, 2003 5:22 pm

That better be DENINATLY.. No Perhaps about it... The game is exciting, but it would be 100 times more if a player could come from no where to slam it home... Instead of jumping way above the rim and shooting it...

Wed Jun 18, 2003 5:57 pm

No question, it definitely should be easier, but since we don't know for sure, we can only speculate - hence my use of the word perhaps. :)

Wed Jun 18, 2003 6:24 pm

I'm trying to work up the hype for it to be in there... Man that would make my day! I have long for my character to do an Allen Iverson over Marcus Camby;)

You guys remember that??? That was back when Iverson used to dazzle us with his leap and actually dunk... Now thats up to Stevie Franchise!

Wed Jun 18, 2003 6:29 pm

Are you thinking of the one where he slams home a missed shot and lands on Camby's shoulders?

Wed Jun 18, 2003 6:54 pm

Yep, and Camby tries to Escape like a little bitch...

Baron Davis is anothe rgood small dunker;)

Wed Jun 18, 2003 6:58 pm

Agreed. (Y)

Wed Jun 18, 2003 7:08 pm

I also enjoyed the Dunk Baron Davis did over Kevin Garnett...

Garnett could have tried to block (he would have fouled), but it seemed liek out of respect (seeing as BD did a mad move) Garnett let himself get slammed all over instead of trying to pound BD arse... Even though Davis would weigh about as much as KG...

Garnett has a lot of respect for people athletically.. I like that;)

Injuries need to be brought back to NBA Live too;)

Wed Jun 18, 2003 7:13 pm

Camby tries to go right, then left. but AI is sitting on his shoulders holding the ring... and he aint letting go until he's sure Camby has been posterised...

And Camby was one one the BEST shot blockers that year;)

But for the smallest guy on the court to do a Tip Slam... Thats amazing...
Ordinary dunks are hard when you only 6', but a tip slam...
Man I have trouble dunking normally, let alone tip slamming;)
