Team Uniforms To Be Unveiled On Saturday
The Charlotte Bobcats will unveil their new team uniforms in a live event that fans can attend on Saturday, August 21, 2004, at 12 noon at SouthPark Mall, it was announced by Charlotte Bobcats President Ed Tapscott.
“We are extremely excited to introduce our new uniforms, which complete the development of our new Bobcats identity,” said Tapscott, who will host the event at the mall’s center area, near the escalators and the former food court. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our fans to experience the Bobcats up close and to be a part of history.”
The uniform unveil is the expansion franchise’s final step in establishing its new identity. The team’s name, logo and colors were announced at a basketball street festival on June 11, 2003.
At Saturday’s event, the Bobcats will present their on-court identity for the first time, showcasing both home and away uniforms as well as their warm-up apparel and shooting shirts. Bobcats players Jason Kapono and Gerald Wallace will model the uniforms and fans will be treated to Bobcats Dance Team performances and entertainment by team mascot Rufus Lynx.
Replica uniform jerseys will go on sale immediately following the unveiling at merchandise kiosks in SouthPark Mall and exclusively at Belk Department Stores for the remainder of the weekend. Beginning Monday, August 23, 2004, replica jerseys will be available for purchase at various retail locations throughout the Charlotte area.
