Can't install 2004 rookie cyberfaces

Thu Jul 01, 2004 11:03 am

This has probably been discussed, but I've been on here since early yesterday trying to figure this thing out and nothing has worked....mods feel free to lock if necessary, but I give up.

Okay. Here is what I've done.

1. Changed .dbf stuff (like ISCREATED, PLayerKPG, etc, etc) to what they're supposed to be, like true, false, blah, blah, blah.

2. Installed EA patch.

3. Have custom art switcher (but since the files I dowload are all .viv and .fsh I usually turn it off....but I've tried on too and it don't work either).

I keep hearing about installing the cyberface to render, but there's like two render folders. I've tried both, but they don't work. I have xplayer.viv in my render directory, but no xplayer.fsh (some guy on here mentioned this but it's not in my computer).

It doesn't matter who I download, Livingston, Gordon, Okafor, it fails me every time. Sometimes my created player turns invisible, sometimes he has a jet black face, and sometimes my game crashes, but most of the time the player turns invisible. Like when I click on him to edit, the screen gets stuck on the player before him on his team. One more thing: These files I've been downloading don't have a .bat file that usually does all this stuff for you. Maybe that's why I can't install them. Whoever can help me out or direct me where I need to go is a saint. Thanks, bye!

best bet is to just compare what u put in those field for your created players to what is in the fields of normal players, if there all the same then there should be no problem. but usually its the little things that u miss so just check

Ok, there should be just one render folder, in your main NBA Live 2004 directory.
1. The simple way is to make a folder inside your render folder called xplayer.
2. Inside that folder, make a folder for each rookie called, for example SETELFA for Sebastian Telfair. First 2 letters of first name, first five of last. Players with 4 or 3 letter last names use underscores to fill in blanks.
3. Now, you need to put the setelfa.fsh into that folder, and have customart turned on.
4. Then, in the dbf file, have facepatch = true (I don't know if you need this but I always turn it on anyway) and then all the other settings like playerpkg and ID7 to SETELFA or whatever, ISCREATED I think needs to be false, that's what I put it, and IsGenerate = false.

Now that should do it, and make sure your editing the right DBF. The easiest way is to save your roster and then edit that save, then load it.

If you just have the .viv files, you'll have to either extract the files inside to the various directories, or, the easier way would be to just import the .viv's into the xplayer.viv in your render folder. Hope this helps, if not, post your settings and we'll try to figure her out from there.

Blazer,

I tried your tutorial and it still doesn't work. I'm completely baffled. All the players end up with is black faces and eyes. I don't think it is a .dbf problem either. It's got to be what's in the patch. The patches I've been dealing with have both a (for example Shawn Livingston) shlivin.fsh and a shlivin.viv. I have been creating the xplayer folders like you said and extracting both these files into this folder. Custom art is on, and all the dbf things are taken care of. Maybe this will help: I've been downloading the patches by right clicking "Save target as" on a different forum. There's no .bat files to install them to their proper place. Another thing I noticed with my other patches are that they come with .o and other .fsh files for bands and shoes and whatnot. Now correct me if I'm wrong--with custom art turned on, you don't need the .viv in the xplayer folder, right? One last thing: You said something about importing the .viv into the xplayer.viv file, which is a wordpad file. I don't know how to do this. And if you teach me how to do this, what happens with the .fsh file and vice versa. I've probably confused the hell out of you. Oh well. I'm sure you'll have an explanation. Hope this helps.

all u gotta to put a viv file in players.viv is open up players.viv with eagraph then goto tools-import-addd files to an external tar archive, then goto add, choose your viv fie or files, after that click next and it will add them, DO NOT DO BAT FILES, it's too complicated. after u've imported the viv file, verify its there. with the fsh file, thats just the players picture, it doesnt go into the xplayer folder, it goes into the xprtteam.viv file, so follow the same steps as with players.viv, and that will give your players that little picture that comes up when he's at the foul line and such. it dont get much easier than that.

Halelujiah! It worked. Thank you, nbalv4evr. I downloaded EA editor and boom.....it worked. Thank God. Props to Blazer, whose infinite wisdom I could not do without. Time to go make me some rookies. Choi.

Fri Jul 02, 2004 4:52 pm

did u just ask where u can find the viv files or how to open them??? either way

1 there in your main folder, usually programfiles/easports/nbalive2004/render

2 just goto the viv file, right click, open with....eagraph

i hope that helps

when i try, i get an IO ERROR 808.

Sat Jul 03, 2004 3:52 am

never seen that error in my life, so i dont know how to help ya there

For some reason I've done all the stuff you said I efen viewed Jameer Nelson's bhed in EAGraph in the Xplayer.viv file, but still in game I get the generic face.

I did the ISCREATED to False and PlayerPKG to JANELSO

any idea what's wrong?

Wed Jul 07, 2004 7:27 am

if im worng im sorry, but the only way for him to have a generic face is if the game recognizes him as being a created player with no face patch....so first make sure that janelso.viv is in the xplayer.viv file and not the xplayer folder, 2 make sure both id7 and playerpkg are done with caps lock on, 3 load your rosters, is could be just as simple as your not loading your rosters, but i dont know that since im not u....but it should work if all those are fine
