Has EA acknowledged the custom art problem yet?

Thu Dec 04, 2003 9:45 am

I'd like to know--because it's a real hassle. They put out a great game and noone thought that this would be a problem but it is. I've learned to avoid the crashes, but why should I have to? Hopefully, Tim will let us know something and update this problem. I'd be happy if they just told us that they were looking into it and hopefully trying to fix it. Anyone else just wondering like me? :?

you ain't the only one... it's bugging me too...

Not publically...but I understand they're aware of it. Unfortunately I don't have any more information at the moment. :(

Yeah. Let's at least hope that someone (not neccesarily EA) finds a way to avoid these crashes. It's so frustrating! (N)

Hey,

i agree. The faces in 2004 are so ugly we need the facepatches, but with this bug...i

i believe there are minor bugs confusing gamers, EA should realease a patch, hopefully.

Patching or moddng a copywritten game is actually illegal. Has ne 1 considered EA might have done it on purpose. I dont really think they have but it is a possibility.

I don't think that is the case. The production team has acknowledged the patchmaking community and has basically said they have nothing against the patches; in fact, they appreciate the interest and enthusiasm (I'm paraphrasing here).

I doubt they would include the CustomArt option if they did not intend it to be used. It just seems that there are errors this year.

Yeah.. getting rid of custom art would lower sales.. at least from me.

Andrew do you know if EA is working on it? Or should us stop hoping it will be fixed?

Tue Dec 23, 2003 7:48 pm

I haven't got any new information. nbalive.org has started a patch petition that will be submitted to EA early in the new year. I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

Another game made by the people at EA, The Sims, is highly supportive of custom work. The Sim's creator/developer Will Wright even said so in many of the chats he has participated in.

NBA Live is also supportive of the custom art patches - in theory. NBA Live 2003 had custom art, and previous Lives also had primitive versions of the custom art concept. NBA Live 2004 simply has a few bugs when it comes to custom art; the game crashes at certain points when custom art is enabled.

Well c'mon already EA.....I hate having to think of our WISHES for Live 2005 without getting any sort of help on the custom art issue as of yet for 2004!!!!!

Thu Jan 15, 2004 12:03 pm

Andrew, any word on a patch--Severence over at .org has stated that a patch was out?
Can you find out about this please? Supposedly, the custom art problem has been fixed?

Where the hell is this patch? It's been past 2 weeks?

Tue Mar 02, 2004 11:09 pm

I'm guessing (hoping) it will be any day now, since it's past the 1-2 week approximate release as reported...well, 1-2 weeks ago.

In case you don't already know, the patch has indeed been released. (Y)
