Hey guys I've just joined my first online league and I am very happy to be playing with other people online.
However, several people have pointed out that they think a move I do is an
"exploit" of the game and
some things I do during the game is cheap.
I am trying to work on my game and *tweak* it so I play "fairly"... but I think it's going to take some time
Anyways I do this move in the post and I shoot a pretty good percentage wif it....
I saw the CPU doing it, I found it impossible to stop so I decided to "practice" it.
The move:
Post up, Backdown, spin to the basket, lean-in quick release
This move pushes ur defender back a bit and so it's a very high percentage shot.
But I do miss wif it and I've been blocked....I do this the most effectively with
Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
Is this move an "exploit" of the game like my opponent said??
Other things ppl have complained about:
1) Holding down on freestyle to defend and bumping into the guy, pushing him back.
- Use a PF/C, hold down on freestyle and keep running really close to the guards on the other team (in fullcourt or half court).
This will keep 'bumping' and 'pushing' the opposing player back....so yea I agree this is "cheap" and not realistic at ALL.
HOWEVER, I often like to guard the player wif the ball myself, instead of letting the CPU do it. I'll admit bumping
INTO the guy is cheap. But I should be allowed to hold "down" on the freestyle, getting in the defensive stance to guard the guy, holding my ground as long as I dont try running into him.
Someone suggested I shouldn't use "down" on the freestyle at all on defense.....
but I disagree. If I weren't allowed to do this, it would be really difficult to stop those quick guards, penetrations, and fast breaks.
- But it is kinna hard to tell whether the defensive player is
holding his ground by staying infront of the offensive player or
purposely bumping into the offensive player.....
2) Not guarding the player wif the ball urself, letting the AI do it.
This is in contrast wif the complaint above....
Some ppl will control a shot blocker and stand in the middle of the lane, let the AI do all the on-ball defense and they wait for the block.
Sometimes I guard off the ball, sometimes I guard the ball..... so either way I still get yelled at by some ppl
3) Going inside too much.
Here are the shot charts in a game in which my opponent complained I went inside too often:

So is it "wrong" to constantly pound the ball inside to the post? or drive the ball to the basket?
I do it sometimes because:
- I dont have confidence in my outside game, I feel my inside game is stronger
- I can pretty much score at will with the move I talked about
- mismatches
- my opponent is rotating quickly and I can't find any outside shots
I never see ppl complain someone jacking up too many 3s, I only hear complaints about taking the ball inside too often.
4) Constantly double/triple teamming
From my observations a LOT ppl play a zone on defense.... but two guys I played against complained I double/triple too much. They say this is not realistic and in the NBA teams rarely double team and when they do they only double/triple team the superstars....
I find zone defenses much harder to attack than man to man myself too.... but I think anything should be fair game.
Personally I think it's not about what kind of defense someone would LIKE to see, it's more about what type of defenses their opponent chooses to throw at them.
