wont read cd

hi
i just installed live 04, the installation was fine, no problems at all. but everytime i try to actually play the game, the vince carter screen comes up on my desktop and then a dialog box says "insert the correct cd". it is the correct cd, cd 1, ive also tried cd 2. no luck. im guessing its a faulty cd, but as ive heard so many problems on this board about incompatible video cards etc i thought id ask for opinions. it doesnt even get into the start of the game though.

my specs are:
amd athlon xp 1800+
1.5ghz
512mb ram
nvidia geforce 2 mx/mx400
20gb free space after insalling live

im planning on sending the game back to ea and getting them to try it out as i expect its a faulty cd

Hmm..weird..
The game only reads the CD during startup into the game and after that it's all from your hard drive.
If you think you have a bad disc you could try the following method:

1. Download a program that can mount a virtual drive in your computer (eg. Daemon Tools Virtual CD-Rom).
2. Create an image of the game on a temporary folder in your computer.
3. Mount the disc image you created onto the virtual drive.
4. Install the game again, as this time it's reading entirely off your hard drive instead of the CD.

When the game initializes it SHOULD look on your hard drive for the game since that's where you installed it from to begin with.
Never tested this method, but I have for other games and it works. Give it a try!
