How can I extend contract with my current players?

Dear friends,

I have been playing with XBox version for about a week and so far enjoy it very well. Great controls and exciting new 'earn points' as you achieve more and more...

I hang around the "GM" section realizing that players have their years of contract remained indicated with the 'points' they worth... I'd like to keep some of the key players for a few years more, who have only one year of contract left. And I am now playing my 10th game in a 56-game season.

What should I do?

If I ignore that and reach deadline for players' movements, and after finishing playoffs, will I be prompted somehow to 'renew' contracts with them, or these players just go to the pool of free agents and I need to fight with other teams for them, like in real life?

Please advise.

you'll be able to resign the players when the new season starts, but it could be that a few of them don't want to resign and they become free agents
