Online Mode - Wishlist! Why is it always ignored?

Postby crapman on Fri Sep 05, 2003 9:30 am

Why is there never any mention of Online Mode improvements for NBA Live? This feature has never really changed since 1999. And there's always been ONE glaring problem with Online mode:

About 75% of the games have one-sided lag. By One-Sided I mean only ONE person lags (and it's usually a delay type lag where stuff happens seconds after you press the button on the controller), which makes it unfair and totally screws up the fun. This has happened since Live 99 and has never been cleared.

I think since there's never really much complaints by the fans and it's never really brought in the Wishlist, that EA just ignores it and never updates their multiplayer technology.

Other things I'd like to have for Online Mode:

Dedicated Server Ability - much like CS and other FPS games have
Spectator Mode - allow people to view your game
Real Time Chat - Live 00 had this, where you could chat DURING the game
FT Slider or Auto FT ability - With one-sided lag, FTs are a nightmare
Ability to play on same team - This was also in Live 00 and was taken out
Ablitiy for more than 2 people to play - This would TOTALLY change the scape of the game if you could have a 5 on 5 where everyone controlled a player. This would probably require that the Dedicated Server option be put in.
ONLINE Franchise Mode - Let us have all the stuff from Franchise mode, but online where every team is controlled by a real person
Record a Game/Highlight Saving ability - One game has this and it works nicely (See ShadowBane), it records all the computer's movements and then plays them back to you in game, making for about a 5mb file for 30min worth of recording.

Online/Multiplayer gaming is the future. Almost every game coming out now is either Massively Multiplayer or somewhat multiplayer. NBA Live needs to greatly improve their multiplayer features and if everyone would start submitting ideas, maybe it would help.

When we were compiling the Wishlist, no one had any specific suggestions for online play, hence there is nothing about online play in the Wishlist. It was not a deliberate omission from the Wishlist.
