This is another ps2 screen. The button notes certainly point to that.

Hopefully they will make an entire UI for PC unlike last year, when they just ported the console interface, which was hard to use. And didn't take full advantage of higher resolutions of the computer, which is a shame. The UI could have been so much better, with a little work.

The menu looks pretty much the same as it did with Live 2003. With a little fancier back ground that is. And a couple of more options.

EA Sports Freestyle and My NBA Live seem to be new as does EA Sports Extras. Freestyle could be the new practise mode, My NBA Live could be for on-line play and Extras are the stuff bought from the EA store... Don't know for sure though...

Ea sports freestyle is not new i think. It was on the ps2 on Live 2003. It was only a tutorial for freestyle...

thats an ugly looking screen :| I hope they fix the menu interface for the PC.

I noticed that too, at a higher res. It just became fiddly with using the mouse.

That pic looks detailed in terms of what options are in the game but, it shows a less than stellar in game model of Ben Wallace. But as I said before Live 2004 started everything from the ground up and first priority this year for EA was gameplay and the Dynasty Mode so next year the graphics should be the next thing to be improved, plus the release date is some time away so the graphic's should see improvement, by then.

You could do that in 03 by pressing the "Next Song" button in the main menu.

Looks pretty good, too bad the resolution is craptacular.

EA Sports Freestyle will just be the tutorial videos, similar to the ones that were present in the console versions of NBA Live 2003.

I too hope that the PC version has a different interface to the console versions. The ease of navigating a menu screen with a mouse rather than a controller allows for an interface without so much back and forth.

But that's what his afro looks like since he wears his headband so high.

The user interface was my biggest disappointment with Live 2003...when you've got the versatility of a mouse in your hand it is so awkward navigating a menu system that is made for the limitations of the console gamepad.

I really liked the NHL 2003 user interface. It was easy to use and packed with information...and it was written specifically for the PC.

mega high top fade  anyway it doesn't look right, things like blowout fros just don't convert to 3D graphics very well...not this example anyway.

I've got live 2003 and NBA 2k3. I think live is much better, but still with major flaws.

What 2k3 does ALOT better though is hair!!! If you soom up on Wallace's fro, you can actually see the fuzzy ends of it, it really looks puffy! Also, you should see the details of the cornrows. People like AI and Rip Hamilton etc. look real good up close.

Live is gonna be heaps better this year, but 2K series has got the upside with hair detail. It was also cool how players had alternate hairstyles in 2k3, like big Ben would have a fro one game, and cornrows the next, kinda like in live 95/96 where Rodman had a random hairstyle each game! I loved that little novelty!

Cheers

Yeah, Dennis Rodman had that feature all the way up until Live 99. His portrait would also change to match the hair colour on the cyberface.

Live 200 had it for iverson. He just has 2 different fsh files. I hope we can do that in 2004, it'd be nice to give players different hairstlyes on a given day..

That's how it was done with Rodman in Live 98 and 99. He had about 10 different fsh files, each with a different hair colour. He also had a portrait to match each hair colour.

I won't even go to that hair thing...

But the NHL 2003 UI was very good. And it took advantage of the pc resources and that's the way to go with Live in my mind. Alas, I'm afraid that we will once again see a console interface forced into the pc world.

New NHL has ticket prices and concession stand sales in it's dynasty mode too... Or so it says in the previews so it could be that we get something a like with Live too. And we will get real salaries as well, if Madden and NHL are anything of an example.

There won't be ticket prices and concession stand sales in Live's Dynasty Mode. I already asked about that a while ago.
