Things we want them to keep from 2003!

Postby cocobee on Fri May 02, 2003 2:04 pm

Ok, might be in the wrong forum, but since we are giving them a wishlist of things we want to see in 2004, How about some things we want them to keep from 2003 to bring and improve in 2004?

I'll start:

1.in 2003, EA made patching the game better with the custom art addition.
2.the dunk animations are top of the line, they really add an excitement factor in the game
3.the post championship scene with David Stern is very cool! Keep it!
4.2003 looks awesome, i know EA will improve in the graphics department each year
5.Hopefully, we can edit the ditties in 2004--although the ingame music is better this year, I still like adding my own music--it adds a lot of realism for me.
6.Keep the freestyle control, i can't play another basketball game without it--truly revoultionary(I love using my ps2 controller via adapter while enjoying the bootyful graphics of my computer)
7.Keep the hardwood classics jersey, add more!

I'll add some more, I'm happy with my 2003 version and I'm just glad there will be a 2004 PC version. But we know how EA will take features out, I hope they keep these.

With the success of freestyle and custom art, I don't think there'll be going anywhere. Provided EA still has the license for the old school jerseys, I think we'll see all of those things in NBA Live 2004. Mind you, that's just my opinion - I don't know anything more than anyone else.

yup, keep the spectacular dunks, they are awesome! but only show them when running on fastbreaks. more simple dunks and layups when playing half court game.

I made sure to include a note in the Wishlist about dunks - less spectacular dunks in traffic, greater degree of difficulty to successfully dunk on players and peform the spectacular dunks.

The customart feature is a good idea (Y), but it was implented badly (N). Slow customart loading times gets a big fat ugly (N) from Barnsey...

The dunks 'look' cool..but it's not very real when it does all these amazing dunks in traffic...they should...yada yada yada it's been said...I'd like to see EA add some normal dunks...more soaring dunks especially...

I agree on the ditties part...

And yep, keep the freestyle...maybe even improve it (Y).

The hardwood/retro jerseys don't really do anything for me :?, mainly because i don't know anything about old teams...but a lot of peopple seem to love them so keep them i say.

I also don't know much about the old teams, but who cares they're NICE jerseys (esp. the Hawks from the 80's ) I agree with dunks in traffic, there should be more soaring two handers over big guys (like Bonzi's huge dunk last night from the left baseline "that dunk got me jumpin outta my seat.") But my favourite live feature is definitly freestyle, although I don't like how when you're using it the defensive players can't keep you out and vice versa, the AI's defense of it should improve.

IMO..this is thread is wishlist as well :)

The freestyle moves from this year's live should stay, with atleast 20 more added. It's about time nba live moves on to 2 discs....since games are so large they are being released on many many discs and dvd formats now(metal gear solid 2 pc...enter the matrix pc). Why is nba live being edited down to one 650mb disc? I think thats the reason they take out stuff..to keep the size of the game to a minimal.

They NEED to keep all the dunks and everything form this year and double add more stuff. Thats what i think.

just imagine with Marv Albert doing commentary, 2004 will be off the hook.
I hope his role will be commentating instead of the tutorials.

i was joking...That's the only feature of live 2004 we know of; that and the players are skinny. I put a smiley after that statement :)

Honestly I love the jumpshot animation in 2003, but the fadeaway shot animation is so ugly....

Don't like the 6' 10" and above Jumpshot... Hands 10 feet above the head and flick the wrist...

PLus what is with the fouls??? They do the funky chicken, but the ball still sails in from deep.

Injuries need to be brought back in

I believe it should be left in, but it should be an attribute that can be changed, rather than one that is automatically assigned to players above the necessary height and weight. Bill Cartwright's jumpshot was quite similar to the ugly jumpshot style in NBA Live 2003...I say leave it in, add a couple of other shooting styles, and make it a customisable aspect for each player, independent of height and weight.

i think I posted something about that on .org a couple of days ago. I think they should make about 3 different shooting forms, and it would be a changeable attribute like bodytype for example.

"New this season, you'll also find a variety of gameplay sliders that enable gamers to customize different game options, as well as all new animations, player graphics (down to the mesh in team jerseys), and an all new announce team featuring the voices of Marv Albert and Mike Fratello. In addition, EA promises an enhanced AI with more focus on rebound battles and defense. How this will be implemented, however, is still yet to be seen. But EA's not stopping with just additional gameplay elements, they're running the floor with a variety of cool features as well including historic teams like the Laker and Celtic championship squads of the eighties featuring realism all the way down to the parquet floor of the old Boston Garden. Speaking of stadium detail, every arena will be represented in fully rendered form and will even sport championship banners and retired jerseys in the arena rafters. Referees and courtside photographers have also been added to bump up the courtside realism to unprecedented heights. If that isn't enough, Live's Dynasty mode has also been revamped, enabling gamers to import college players from March Madness 2004."

sounds real good for us in 2004

If march madness comes out for the pc that will be a good feature. That is great news that "Live's dynasty mode has been revamped." :D

Sounds great. :) Hopefully you don't have to unlock any of those classic teams though. When it comes to basketball games, I like all those features to be available from the time you first put in the CD.

Let the nba live 2004 hype begin!

http://www.easports.com/games/nbalive20 ... .jsp?ncc=1

I keep reading how they revamped the dynasty/franchise mode but i don't hear anything about trading draft picks? The whole march madness to nba live thing sounds cool, but pc users won't be able to utilize that. So why not add "trading draft picks for us" and we'll call it even.
