Keyboard or Gamepad

Hi all.
I usually play NL2004 using keyboard of my laptop. Is there someone else playing with keyboard? Or do you think it's a poor way to enjoy the game?
A few days ago I bought a gamepad, but it sucks! It's almost impossible to play with it.
Could someone suggest me a good gamepad for NL2004?
