Major Dynasty Talent Inflation?

One night, I was bored, so I started simulating a Lakers dynasty. I did this for over a decade. By the time it got to the point where the majority of the players in the league were created draftees, the level of talent in the league was ridiculous. In the default rosters and all the roster patches, a 90+ overall rating is pretty much reserved for 1st Team All-NBA players. However, in the dynasty, 90 was the AVERAGE overall rating.

Anybody with a 90+ ratings was no longer a guaranteed All-Star or franchise player. How good teams were was not determined by whether or not they were able to build around one or two superstars, but how deep they could go into their roster and still have a 90+ rated player. The top teams had 10 or 12 players with 90+ ratings. My team had a horrible record because I "only" had about 6 90+ rated players, and a few in the 80s.

Has anyone else who's gone far into their dynasty experienced into this ridiculous problem? Before, I was thinking about starting a new, long-term dynasty and actually playing through 48 minutes each game. However, I'm not going to do that if this is the kind of crap is to be expected.

Well, I went until 2012 with Detroit, but I didn't encountered that problem. I just was annoying by the lack of centers of power forwards, and the number of shooting guards, but apart from that, I didn't noticed any significant overall changes.

Same here, I'm in 2014 and yes, there a lot of 90-rated players but I'm averaging about the mid 80's on my roster and I have been trading aggressively(as some people may know)

I just get annoyed as all the created players in the league also look like people on my roster!

Well I got to 2014 and yeah, there is a talent inflation but it does not occur all the time. Try playing another dynasty and it would be a different story. The problem regarding too many guards and not enough centers are really the result of either the computer relentlessly trying to draft guards if and only if the usual award winners are guards or that the computer thinks that new players have guard games into them. The computer only reacts to what we do. If we create a Jordanesque player and he leads his team to let's say 8 championships with 8 mvp and finals mvps and a lot of defensive player awards, then the computer would definitely think that guards are a good thing. Unfortunately, the computer also controls the minds of the other GMs so they all follow the 'next-Jordan' bandwagon. Try doing that with a Shaq modeled player and the cpu follows suit. EA eliminated it somewhat in 2005 but sometimes, the bug still persists. Nobody has yet created AI that could think of itself and not simply reacting to your activities.

It happens but not often. I usually sim the entire season and play a game or two in the playoffs so I have been through about 8 15+ year dynasties and I've only seen it happen once.

The opposite seems to happen the most. In my last dynasty after about 12 years there were no players with a rating over 89.

Might be somewhat realistic... a "good" jump rating in the 80s isn't anything remotely close to a "good" jump rating now. A good jumper in the 80s would have been Worthy, with Dominique and Jordan representing 100.

Nowadays, you've got 19 year olds like Josh Smith recording 10 blocks (without a single foul) as a rookie on elevation power alone, not to mention doing video game dunks in-game.

I remember when Ewing was an athletic Center with mad skills because he had a FT range jumper. Can you imagine Ewing trying to keep up with Amare or Yao or Gasol.

And this is debatable, but i think players are more accurate shooters now as well. Back in 90 when the Bulls first won, only 3 teams cracked 300 3 pointers made. This year, Phoenix was just shy of dropping 800 3 pointers.

About the 3 point shooting thing, well maybe, but I think its just more use of 3 point line. Back in the days, on fast breaks people would finish hard. Now sometimes you see a 3 point shot on fast break.
