Game crashing during loading...

Postby corranjedi on Sat Jun 19, 2004 4:29 pm

My game has started to crash while the little orange basketball is doing it's thing while loading up a game. I was fine with no crashes after turning on customart, and I was fine with no crashes after installing some cyberfaces. However, I have edited some players through the dbf files, and now I have the problem. First off, I edited just the player.dbf file in the main NBA Live 2004 folder, but then I realized that was the wrong one when I tried to play the with one of my edited guys, and his stats weren't changed, because I edited the wrong roster file. I had the problem though when I tried to load a practice then. I thought I maybe needed to edit all the player.dbf files, so I went through and did that, but it still crashes. This is exactly what happens: While loading, I hear that error noise, and the load bar stops going around. I hit alt-tab, and there is a CODEBASE ERROR. In the little window it says this:
Error #: -70
Error #: 91102
Reading File
dfile4...()
TEAMS
It also has a little NBA Live Logo in it, and an OK button. Now, here is the somewhat strange part. When I am loading practice, I can click OK, and go back to the game, and it will continue loading, and allow me to play practice. However, as soon as I hit escape, or try to go to the menu the game crashes to the desktop. I also have tried playing One on One, and it does the same thing, only when I click OK, the game just crashes and does not continue loading. Now, because this started happening after I did some editing, I think it pretty obvious it has something to do with that. I'm wondering if there is something I did wrong or if there is some certain thing I forgot to do. All I did was go into the player.dbf files and up the stats for a few players and stuff like that. I didn't mess with anything important, and I used player.dbf editing tutorial on this site as a guide. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

More strangeness...

Postby corranjedi on Sat Jun 19, 2004 4:56 pm

I just went back into the game to see if I could figure something out, and I noticed this. I tried loading up a roster I had downloaded (and I had edited it), and then looking at it in the reorder rosters section under team manangement. Well, all the players I had edited were players on the Pistons, and when I got to to Detroit, only two players were listed, everything else filled by a star. Ben Wallace and Darko Milicic were the only available players. Both of these people I had edited, Ben I edited his stats and stuff, Darko I had just changed his nickname. Then, I tried loading some of the other rosters, and on those, only Ben was available to play. I loaded up the first roster, since it is the one I normally used, and tried using Ben in the practice mode. Everything worked fine, loaded up fine and everything. So, I am guessing there is just something wrong with what I did when editing, though I'm not sure why Ben still works, because I edited him too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I think it is something to do with me editing the dbf files, so if anyone could help, that would be great. If there are dos and do nots about editing the files, that would help, or just any idea on what might be wrong.

Make sure you didn't change the playerpkg and ID7 field. Also make sure that you didn't change the iscreated field to true and check that the "TEAM" field has all of the pistons players on the right team.
